The thing is i’m not sure where my standing on toys are. I love watching people talk about it, also watching toy reviews on the net and so fourth. But i can never bring myself to buying anything, i just dont get why.
Can anyone tell me why?
I wouldn’t say it’s a problem, it’s just your personal preference I guess. I’m sure you have lots of other interests? Away from the message boards I only know one, maybe two people who are into toy collecting.
I also really like hearing people talk about their toys and watching videos and reviews, but up until recently I didn’t own any (Although lack of money has a lot to do with it for me!).
yeah, its not a problem…your just not completely sold on the new stuff. I bought most of it, but there are things I just cant bring myself to buy. The mini sword of omens and basic claw shield are one. I have stood there, in the isle staring at them for 10 minutes before I could decide what to do. I still havnt bought them. They just dont work for me. I’d probably buy them if I could get them on clearance for 50% off or more. but just arent worth full retail price for me.
Also, sometimes you just have to buy something to get into it. once its in your hands displayed at your house, at least for me, I usually have a better appreciation.

I’m thinking of getting those new “Chibi Thundercats” but i’m not sure what the set is called so i can start look for it T_T
I had the same problem a few years ago. I think a lot of it has to do with the social stigma of buying toys over a certain age. I went ahead and bought the Thundercats to support the line and I honestly don’t regret it. I even started buying the new Transformers from the Prime cartoon and they are incredibly fun to transform. So I say just buy something and see how it feels. 
Sounds good, but can anyone then help me with finding these Chibi Thundercats toys?
even as an action figure collector, there are lots of figures that i dont collect personally, yet enjoy reading/participating in conversation about.
and take this piece of advice, if you think that you might be interested in actually collecting the figures despite the normal hesitation, just make a determination to buy a single figure. that way if you like the figure, you can keep adding to the collection, or if you decide it really isnt for you, then you didnt spend a whole lot
I had similar feelings at one point. I felt (and sometimes still do) guilty about spending the money. Like others have said, once I started buying I found that I really enjoyed collecting and as long as it isnt to the detriment of my family/monetary obligations there isnt anything wrong with it either way.

Hi Rizefall, do you mean those stylised bubble headed figures? Try Toys R Us or Bandai’s website should sell them direct, if they are released in your country. I know amazon.com sell them http://www.amazon.com/Bandai-Thundercats-Stylized-Deformed-Collector/dp/B006YRAT7M/ref=sr_1_31?s=toys-and-games&ie=UTF8&qid=1333466316&sr=1-31 but they won’t necessarilly ship to your country, we have to wait till autumn now in the UK apparently! Grrr! You’ll have to wait if/when they are released in your country too.
As for collecting, just get what you like and what makes you smile. Life is too short to be all seriosu and grown up all of the time, let your inner ten year old out! When I was a kid I had ALL the original Thundercats, vehicles and playsets, (I still do!) took me years to collect them all, birthdays, Christmas, pocket money, etc. Now I’m an adult, I think it would be a shame if I DIDN’T collect the new line, kind of a homage to my childhood passion. However, saying that I will not get all of them. Numerous variants on figures on the 4 inch line (such as Liono, Panthro, etc) and certain others such as the armour of Omens. But I will get all of the primary figures such as the main team, the tank, the bad guys etc.
At the end of the day if you enjoy them and want them, get them and put them on a shelf somewhere, it will make you happy! If you still need a logical reason, then buying them will support the franchise and make it more likely it will continue for years to come.

I really like the looks of these ones. Maybe i should get a thing for my room where i can keep everything in.
Personally I don’t really get figures to play with them (except for maybe the first week or so that I have them lol), but to display them. To me it’s not all that different than people who put little elephant figurines on their mantles or things like that.
One thing I really enjoy is building Gundam model kits. They’re robot models, but it’s really not any different than building a model airplane or car or ship.
That Gundam stuff sounds intresting, could you show some of it?
You are putting forward an interesting point Rizefall, and let me analyze it a bit. There is a certain stigma attached to persons who like collecting Toys, memorabilias, statues, figures and generally are into the Pop culture fandbase. They are labeled as nerds, geeks or eccentric. I never had such issues since i have many interests and have no problem at all expressing, whenever it is mentioned, my enthusiasm for the Tcats toys to people! Still, I don’t know why some associate these hobbies with a particular character.The open minded people certainly don’t. However, this prejudiced notion is slowly fading away as the collectivity hobby become widely accepted by a large number of the society. As i like to say,in the same way that someone can have a famous painting hanging against a wall in his house, i don’t see why other works of contemporary art can’t be equally nice displayed. For me there isn’t better or worse type of art but different style and medium, then it comes down to each man’s preferences.
Comics and Cartoon are established art forms and considered as the 9th Art from the early 20th century. Consequently, products closely related and coming from them, like the Toys and Vintage collectibles, have more or less an artistic quality attributed to them as well.
Personally, even though i have had a passion with Comics even since i was very young i was never into collecting figures or merchandise related products of every franchise i liked. Simply they don’t trigger my interest. Moreover, the only Toys i have focused on is Thundercats. There is an explanation for that though.The LJn Toyline went hand in hand with the Old cartoon as far as maintaining the history and reputation of the franchise is concerned, besides the Toyline played an integral role in making Thundercats successfull and establishing its mythos.Hence, the sky high prices for the old vintage toys at the internet right now.Had it not been for the Toys, Thundercats wouldn’t be such a popular hit.
Consequently we are not talking about a generic toyline which faded out through time, like the majority of toylines around but for an important branch of the franchise which singlehandedly,this isn’t an overstatement if we realize that Thundercats were in limbo for 25 years with no other products to support it at all, managed to preserve the longevity and perpetuation of a show.
I consider my Tcats collection something more than just buying toys to remind me of a legendary cartoon.It’s a way for paying homage to a memorable show which can stand easily at the wear of time and has so many good elelments making it great to watch now or in the future again.And this perpetual grandeur is for some reasons conveyed to the LJN Toys too! This philosophy though doesn’t apply for the majority of other famous Cartoons,such as TMNT, MOTU,Transformers,e.t.c which have made several attempts of producing Toylines throughout the decades but with no much success.More often than not we see repetition of the same figures which can hardly catch the fan’s interest.
Maybe deep down you think these Toys are more suitable for children.However there is no rule dictating that you must buy the toys in order to like the show.It depends on how you feel about it. You can try by purchasing a few, and if you like the whole collectivity process, then you might change your opinion!!
Lordore, I agree that there is a stigma, but hey, aren’t geeks supposed to be cool now? Just look at the big bang theory! haha! I also absolutely agree with there being no real difference between collecting stamps, models, ornaments or whatever else people collect and collecting action figures or toys. Its still a collection! I do like your reasoning though. I feel very similar to you in my own reasons for collecting the Thundercats toys and memorabelia, and like you I don’t mind being partly defined by it or expressing my interest/passion in it, because although it is one passion in my life, it is one of many and not the only thing I can be defined by.
