Okay, I really want to start collecting Thundercats figures again. BUT here’s my dilemma. I had almost of all of the figures and playsets when I was younger, but as I got older, got married and had children they have slowly disappeared. I have managed to locate a few (about 5) and really want to have them all again. So, as you know there are a few choices out there and I don’t know which way to go. MOC would be great and is how I usually collect, but I am seriously running out of room in my office/collection room (I’ll post pics of that some day). And the prices for some of the more rare figures are astronomical. Loose may be the way to go, or should I just hold out and see if new figures are made in the future? Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Go with loose and wait if a new series is released which you can collect MOC. Loose figures can be displayed so much better!
Yeah that?s probably the best way to go about it. That way if a new line is produced then I can have best of both worlds.
It depends on how much time you want to spend and money. I have spent a considerable amount of time and a few thousand on my MOC collection. There are some other boardies that are MOC collectors that can agree on this.
if you have money to blow… go MOC. Considering how much prices have increased over the years (thank to those bloody DVDs!!!) its hard to say, though - even loose prices are climbing!
it really all depends on your cash flow. Me I decided on going both routes. You can pose the loose figures and set up a scene with them for display, and the MOC ones are better protected and are forever enshrined and put on display by them selves through the bubbles
Right now I can’t afford another MOC collection. Would be nice though. Loose is probably the way I will go. I’ve been looking at some of the figures on e-bay. There are some pretty good deals, but most of them are from Europe and that can get costly for shipping. So I?ve been looking to buy in bigger lots to save. (Sounds logical but doesn?t always work that way).
Getting them in lots if you can find them will still be very expensive. I can tell you right now that with the current prices a whole collection MOC will run you for anywhere between 8-10 thousand dollars and that really is no joke. Here’s a run down of what you can expect to pay for the more expensive pieces in MOC/MIB condition.

Thats 11 figures/playsets and even if you get them on the low end of prices the total will run you for over 2000 dollars…and thats just the tip of the iceberg. If you are a variations collector you’re looking at a total of over 80 figures/playsets.It’s taken me almost 2 years to have the collection I have and Im still short about 24 figures out of a total of 80 something. Best advice is go loose and even then a whole collection will run you well over $1500 dollars. Dont want to discourage but its the sad truth

Variations aside most of the harder to find things do not come up for sale on a regular basis MOC. You can compile all of the loose figures at affordable prices. There are things like some of the vehicles that are harder to find complete and good priced like the Cats Lair. Manny is right about the cost. Please keep in mind that Manny is going for a complete collection with all variations also. If it is something you are setting out to do over a long period of time then don’t be discouraged by getting MOC. If you are wanting to do it in a short amount of time the loose is the way. Regardless go for what you like!
