How would you rate the animation of Thundercats? Does it look stunning, move along smoothly or is there lots of Transformers and D&D-esque mistakes, such as a characters mouth moving and someone elseās voice coming out?
I mean donāt get me wrong Transformers had some awesome animation moments, season 2 eps in paticular look really niceā¦the movie looked superb and there were even some nice season 3 moments.
D&Dā¦well lets just say I have never seen a cartoon do better explosions than D&D.
He-Manā¦stock, stock, cheap, stockā¦I love He-Man but we all know it was simpleā¦although to be fair I think the Rotoscoping works and it suits it being in the style it is.

As far as storytelling goes, its just as good, if not better than that seen in He-Man imo. One of the main reasons I say that is because Thundercats has a lot more continuity, and more backstory to things like Third Earth and Thundera. Theres plenty of character developing stuff, and even characters like Jackalman and Monkian get their own spotlight episodes. Vultureman in particular gets loads of episodes devoted to him and his own devious plots in the second season, the villains on He-Man were never really fleshed out.
Voice acting is excellent I think, Earl Hammonds Mumm-Ra is just creepy to listen to. Larry Kenney has a very impressive vocal range too, I didnt even realise for a while that he also voiced Jackalman.
Oh, and the animations excellent, Iām tired and dont wanna write anymore:D
I think the animation on ThunderCats was streets ahead of most of its contemporaries - I can say with authority that overall it is better animated than Transformers (although not better than the TF movie, which is in a league of its own!), and looks like itās better animated than Dungeons & Dragons, even though Iāve not really seen enough D&D to comment.
I would say that, in ThunderCats, a mistake like the wrong characterās dialogue coming out the wrong characterās mouth is virtually nonexistent!
In terms of the writing, I would say that ThunderCatsā season 1 is better than He-Manās season 1, but that He-Manās season 2 is slightly better than ThunderCatsā season 2. Some of the episodes from season 2 (or, as Iāve always known them, seasons 2, 3 & 4, a.k.a. "the second set of 65 episodes! ;)) are a little āwackyā for my tastes, which I guess is why Martin likes them! However, season 1 of ThunderCats I think is pure magic!
Voice acting - a lot of people criticise the voice acting in ThunderCats, but honestly Iāve never, ever had a problem with it. I think the voice acting on He-Man was probably a tiny notch up (largely because of Linda Garyās fabulous work), but I still think that the VAs on ThunderCats, particularly Earl Hammond, Bob McFadden and Larry Kenney, did an outstanding job!
for me the writing belongs to heman then thundercats transformers and although it wasnt mentioned gijoe

On the whole though I do think Season One is superior to Season Two(and three and four if you think of them like that). My favourite part of Season Two is Mumm-Raās hunt for the treasure of Thundera, which is my favourite little arch in the show. And as Chris said, the overall wackiness in some of the episodes, which I think mostly comes from those *does Luna voice * crrrrrrazy Lunataks!
