I am trying to buy this piece… but they’re asking for $1000 US and I think the background is a copy but…

:jaw: Holy Crappola that has got to be THE best cel I have seen ever. Even if the background is a copy I dont think you will ever come across something like this ever again. $1,000 is a lot of money but for such a 1 of a kind item the price is not too bAD

Seriously, if I was in your position I’d try and raise the money somehow and then maybe even sell off a couple of other cels to support the purchase - that has got to be the most amazing cel in the history of the universe!!

Well my collection of intro cels is now the focus of my animation art efforts. These cels are ridiculously expensive, so I expect that I won’t ever go beyond six or so cels total.
Here are the four that I have so far. I think I will be selling the one on the top right in the near future so that I can afford to go after one more Lion-O cel that I want… which is the one where he uses the Sword of Omens to do sight beyond sight in the intro. If I ever get that one I can consider my collection pretty much complete. After that I’d only be looking to improve my collection of backgrounds, especially to add backgrounds of Catslair, The Pyramid and a nice Castle Plundarr if I ever find one.
Just wanted to let you all know that I plan on holding off a while longer before posting these on the site. This is because I am still competing with other collectors to get my hands on T-Cat pieces. I don’t want to tip them off to what I’m working on securing, because some of them have a pretty good idea of who I am sourcing these from and they may start to intrude on my dealings.

Mark, those are all amazing - obviously I’m completely in love with the intro sequence cels, but I also really like the backgrounds - seeing those in that form really showcase how beautiful the artwork was on ThunderCats, those could easily be paintings that you could hang on a wall!

Funny that you mentioned hanging these on a wall Chris, that’s actually exactly what I’m planning on doing. I’m going to wait till the day that I secure my holy grail cel from the intro… and then my wall art will look like this:

i should mention that while i’ve made the deal to buy the two new intro cels (top left and bottom right) pictured in that collage, they’ve not arrived yet.
and like any realist, i’m very nervous about their voyage to Canada… and am really hoping that nothing untoward happens to them
so they’re not “mine” yet, but hopefully they will be soon

I can definitely understand your anxiety - I’m guessing that they’ll be being sent to you via some kind of insured mail system? If so, even though it wouldn’t replace the cels if something happened, at least you’d get compensation. Here’s hoping they arrive safely, though, they are such beautiful pieces!
Also, do you think the person you sell your first Lion-O intro cel to might be willing to still allow it to feature in your Community Gallery? It’s such a gorgeous piece!

Lifelong She-Ra obsessive right here - I love that cartoon! Anybody who thinks it’s ultra-girly a la My Little Pony has obviously never watched it IMO!
That’s a gorgeous cel - IMO, surely the background is from the part of the opening titles where the Horde villains are superimposed against it one-by-one, culminating with a shot of Hordak walking towards the screen and shooting it with his laser-arm-cannon!

Here’s another pearl of a background… to my knowledge there are only two full renderings of the Crystal Castle. This is the first one I’ve ever seen, and its in the mail so hopefully I’ll have it by Monday.
Received the Crystal Castle background a handful of others that I recently picked up. I think I may have the best She-Ra location backgrounds at this point out of all collectors. But it’s always hard to know who is out there thats never displayed their cels. So who knows?
I actually have a matching cel that goes perfectly with the Skeletor bone chair, I just need to scan them together now. It’s one my favourite setups ever now!

I know you’ve shown us loads of amazing cels over the past few years, including several from the opening titles - I’m really hoping that, with the relaunch of the site, you’ll be adding some of these beautiful cels to your Animation Art Gallery - not only would it be great to have some exciting new content to display with the relaunch, but it would also be a real feather in this site’s cap to have some of these intro sequence cels displayed!
EDIT: Just to add that if you need any assistance with anything to do with your animation cels and their display on the site (such as watermarking, superimposing onto a background, etc.), I’m in the process of helping MannyF out with some of the graphics for elsewhere on the site and would be happy to assist you as well - feel free to LMK if you need anything!
