In the '90s, Disney Channel aired several Rankin/Bass holiday specials and movies. Why wouldn’t they wanna air the original ThunderCats as well, since that too was a Rankin/Bass project? Although…if they (and Disney XD) aired it right now, in this century, it would be edited for content. Some violence and every innuendo would be instantly removed.
I think this sorta thing would happen after the show would’ve been released on DVD as a complete series, featuring a digitally enhanced/recolored/detailed picture quality and remastered/restored, studio-quality mono audio. That’s just wishful thinking, of course. What does everyone else think?
Since 1989 WB has the rights for Thundercats,so it’s up to them to release once again.
I totally agree with you though, a remastered edition of the Orginal would be a great idea and i believe more younger fans wil be drawn to the franchise.
There are the means and the techonolog to restore the 1985 Thundercats picture.
Also, a TV airing will be nice too.It will support further the New Thundercats
The original broadcast masters for ThunderCats are presumed lost, so we’re stuck with the VHS quality, henceforth the digital enhancement, color-correction, and sharpening.
Not VHS quality by any means. The DVD transfers probably come from broadcasting-standard tapes… obviously not master films, probably not even copied films but definitely above VHS or any other vintage home media standards.
WB should’ve easily stepped up the plate in cleaning up the show’s audio and video.
