Found one, but its quite small…
I was doing some hi-res screen captures a few weeks ago. I can make one for you as long as my trial version of Snag-It hasn’t expired (if it has I’ll tell you how to do your own). You do the leg work though and let me know an episode title and minute marker you would like the screen cap to be from.
An easier way is to do this…play the disk on your computer, pause to the right pic, click “control + print screen”, go to your desktop, right click and make a new bit-map, right click again and open with MS Paint, click “paste” and viola, high resolution screen cap, just save as a PNG for best quality because JPEG lowers the resolution and the quality.
I’m not an expert in any of this, but I don’t think Lynxana’s trick will work if you are using a newer version of Windows Media Player. Your screen capture will end up being black. I may be wrong about it though. Like I said, I’m not an expert.

Your post did make me wonder so i tried it out to be sure and yes, you can do a print_screen cap with Windows Media Player 11.

Hee, hee, it’s not Thundercats as all I had on hand was my kid’s Spongebob Squarepants movie, but I was able to do a screen cap. You can edit the pic to crop it but I purposely left the pic alone so you can see the media player.
Oh I forgot to add another screen cap. I looked at your link and I wanted to make sure you can definitely do this with DVDs, so I popped in a DVD and took a screen cap as you can see from the side panel. It works.

She’s been having trouble with spam bots, though, so you may need to send her an email to register you before you can see anything bigger than a thumbnail. Or you can eliminate the word thumb_ from the thumbnail’s URL.
This hasn’t been pointed out yet, so I may as well say it. Screencaps from the DVDs are going to be limited by the compression and native resolution of the DVDs, 640x480, or 768x576 on PAL releases like the French DVDs. Anything larger than that is just a resize, a blow-up.
I interpreted your question, Endorx, as asking whether there were any images higher-res than the DVDs. The answer is yes. Any promotional material that was printed back in the 80s, if scanned at a high enough resolution (200-300 dpi, let’s say), will look crisper than any screencap.
There were several promotional press kit stills printed in black and white in the 80s that are a good example of this. They look like grayscale scans of the original cels, and are up on the Rankin-Bass website:

Another example of this is the Panini sticker book. While the individual stickers are small and grainy, there were some panels in the book composed of multiple stickers. I took the following scan from Purrsia’s gallery, adjusted the color, and then I took my own screencap from the episode for comparison. A little corrective surgery in Photoshop could turn that four-sticker panel into quite a nice image:

Recently, a promotional book was released in France to accompany the Cosmocats DVD. The artwork is new, but nearly indistinguishable from the original. Again, I’m sending you to Purrsia’s gallery, where, sadly, they are watermarked:

Of course, the best examples are the original cels, but scans of those tend to be watermarked also.

It’s been a while since I looked at it, but I’m pretty sure the zip file I have for download of the cosmocats book does not have watermarks. It might be in pdf format. At any rate, if someone is interested in non-marked, and even higher res scans than I have uploaded anywhere (for purposes of file size and time to download, most webmasters will degrade the size or image quality of documents on the web), just let me know. I usually have backups of the original straight-from-my-scanner documents, and will send something specific to someone if needed 
Edit: I checked and the pdf download of the cosmocats book not only includes the entire book, but the watermark included is small and in the corner - not the big fat obnoxious one on the other files, lol! I did those that way because at the time I think it was the only copies of that on the web and I didn’t want some tshirt opportunist or something easily slapping those on stuff to sell on ebay etc.
