I’m from Germany and I’m glad that I found this great fan site.
As I’m a huge He-Man fan(even more a He-Man than a ThunderCat one:rolleyes:) I’m also registered on the he-man.org forums(aka Dr.Tod) where I saw the Thundercast podcast link some time ago.
As I like your Podcast a lot I know decided to register her on its “mother site”
I have to admit that I didn’t recognized Thundercats in my childhood as we had no sat/kabel TV back than.
After listening to the Podcast I watched some of the Thundercast cartoon episodes - right now I’ve seen about 20 of them I guess - and I like it!
MumRa and Slice are cool - the are my favourite charakters of the show right now
I don’t like that “Spacecop woman” riding on her “space-bicycle” → yes no fan of here :sneaky:
Anyway - I’m glad to here and I’m looking forward to the next podcast → btw. I hope the download/iTunes link will be online a bit sooner next time :rolleyes: - that’s not meant bad - I’m just grouching a bit
Oh and hey - are the “extras/documentary features” mentioned in the last podcast episode already online? If so, where can it be found? Thanks.
The ‘extras/interviews’ are mostly featured on the front page where a link will take you to the interviews - including the very first ever recent audio interview with Lynne Lipton!

Hope you like the ThunderCats Lair. I am glad to know that I am not the only one not knowing ThunderCats from their childhood (did they even air the show in Germany?). My husband introduced them to me and since I am surrounded with lots and lots of the toys they kind of grew on me too. And our 3-year-old daughter plays with them all the time (the loose ones that is).
Just curious, where in BW are you? We just moved to Mannheim a few month ago before that we lived in Virginia, but I am originally from Hessen

Yes I love the ALF series, too. The “real sitcom” with the Tenners and the Ocmonecs (don’t know how this name is wirtten correctly ;)) is fantastic! But I’m not a real fan of the movie or the ALF cartoon series at all.

I’m not sure if Thundercats aired in Germany in the 80’s - but I guess they did. My parents didn’t see the need to receive the “private TV stations” where all the cool cartoons ran. So I only had the “öffentlich rechtlichen” stations and they only showed very few cartoon series. Luckily the aired at least “Captain Future” :).
Now to aswer your question about my address. I just left my home village located in Bavaria near to Lindau(Bodensee) and moved to Karlsruhe in BW as I found a very nice job there(even if the payment could be better ;)).
You moved from Virginia (the one in the USA, right?) to Manheim? Why? Am I eventually too curios with asking that question?

yeah my parents never wanted the cool channels either…we got those very late. We only had like 3 channels most of the time and the only “kid stuff” I was allowed to watch was “Spass am Dienstag” :rolleyes:
Good question about the move…well, I am married to mannyscollectibles…he is a soldier with the US Army. We met here in Germany, after his time was up here we moved to the States…Arizona to be exact, then we got stationed in Virginia and just a few month ago the Army sent him back to good old Germany But you know what…once you have left Germany you soon find out how good you had it…I really missed it…and now I miss the States..well sometimes that is Glad to be back in Germany though!
And don’t you worry about your English…it is very good!!! Mine isn’t perfect either but compared to a lot of folks over here that “enjoyed” the same school education as I did, it is pretty good.

According to that - I suppose you did not had to find a flat for your own, what can be difficult sometimes.
Btw. is it true that the US military bases outside the US have their “own world” and that the Amercans who work their only have very little contact to “outsiders”(inhabitants of the country they stay)?
I’ve never seen an US military base in Germany like Ramstein for my own - but as far as I hearded it has to be a small version of “USA” with many Amarican shops and where they pay in $ instead of € - but I don’t know if that’s true or not…

Back than I didn’t see the He-Man Cartoon - but as He-Man had many great other stuff like audiobooks(Oh yes I LOVE audiobooks), comics, advertising books and of course the great toys - I recognized him soon and was a fan immediately.
ThunderCats took a bit longer - but I’m on my way to became a fan of them, too

Nadja is away right now but Ill reply to questons about bases here in Germany. It wasnt very hard to get hpusing since they assigned us housing on post…which sucks but oh well. It very much a small version of the US, the majority of the shops here on post take both dollars and Euros with the exception of Commissary (supermarket) and the Post Exchange (our department store), some shops only take Euros but those are few and far between. There is a few American shops and fast food restaurants on post but not many.
As far as people that live here on post, well most people are just afraid of the language barrier and if they do go out its mostly for travel reasons not your regular daily things because most of those are done on post. Luckily Nadja is Germany so we get to enjoy Germany and Europe more than your average American that works on post. There is so much more to Germany and Europe than what the tourist guides show you, but in general most people here on post remain on post for their daily errands. Most people that work here on post dont usually develop friendships with people on the outside because of the language barrier but we have many German friends so we are always enjoying get togethers and such.
Perhaps one of these days we can get together for coffee or something like that.

However, I totally understand the reasons “for staying at home” mentioned by you. If you’re abroad for working you don’t have that much free time to “discover” the surrounding especially when you’re having difficulties with the language or when you’re into a different culture.
But hey, it’s nice to read that you’re having some friends outside your base, too.
Btw. are these dip’s offered by TacoBell really that tasty like I was told from a other He-Man fan I met 2 or 3 times, or not?
I love Taco Bell…if youve never had Taco Bell I’d be glad to offer you some Taco Bell in the future, we are in Mannheim so if youre not too far you can swing by for some Taco Bell.
Unfortunatelly there are no public TacoBell restaurants in Germany - so I had no chance to taste them.
My acquaintance told me that he ate “many” tacos & dips there back in the days when he was a German soldier positioned on a NATO group with access to an US base - and he is still missing them

Unfortunately I don’t own a car(only a bicycle) these days so I’m not very mobile. But who knows - maybe some day… or maybe by train…
Btw. do you know how far away from you the nearest train station is?
