I gotta say out of all the episodes “Thundercats” ever aired “Helpless Laughter” was probably one of my Top 5s but I gotta ask wth do you think the writers were thinking or rather on when they wrote the episode? And does anyone think that Earl Hyman and Bob McFadden had to have more than a few takes with some of the lines that were in that episode?
I’m glad to see somebody else holds this episode in high regard.
It’s a favorite of mine. It’s just so…weird, so unusual. I don’t know, the story just seemed to come out of left field. Yeah, that’s it. With the drought going on, I wasn’t expecting it. But I love the fact that Mumm-Ra was beaten because he was laughing himself silly. I wouldn’t be surprised if multiple takes were necessary. It was probably hard to come up with clean humor!:cheetaraveryhappy:
It was also reminiscent of the earliest episodes where the Thundercats came across the strange things of Third Earth.
Yeah I mean it just dawned on me that they could have gotten some pretty good outtakes with that particular episode and also you gotta love that drum sound they put in after “Panthros” “No but we could do his laundry”
