I’ve always been a huge Thundercats fan since my childhood, when I used to own almost all the toys that were sold in Brazil, where I come from. It’s nice to find a forum like this, that has new threads and messages daily!
Since I know this website is growing and become better everyday, I also want to contribute to the section with FOREIGN VERSIONS of Thundercats Toys.
Once I send an e-mail to Blackiecat with some images zipped, but I believe he never received it. I can send it again to some administrator, just tell me your contact.
I have pictures of the brazilian version Thundercats, some of them are from my collection (A boxed Skycutter “Nave Navalha”, a Thundertank with red doors mint, the Mumm-Ra variation with helmet attached to its head instead of being an accessory) and also some pictures of carded Thundercats.
Sweet. welcome to the boards. I love the Thundercats stuff from South America. I have that glasslite Mumm-ra you are talking about and it is indeed neat. I almost had the red thundertank the other day but was outbid on ebay brazil at the last min or so. I am very interested in seeing your stuff. I have almost a whole Playful carded set (no glasslites mib yet:rolleyes:), so seeing what you have and maybe stuff I dont know about will be awesome. I love seeing the different variants

Vintage…is great to have you around, I am very much looking forward to seeing the Brazilian versions of Thundercats. A lot of the foreign toys had variations and its always so interesting to see what else was out there. Now a days its very tough to find Glasslite Thundercats IMO as welll as the foreign versions that were made in South America. Welcome to the Lair and hope you will enjoy your stay

And that’s it! I would like to make more comparisons, but unfortunately, my other Thundercats from Glasslite are in a mess!
I will repair some of them (Monkian, Jackalman and Vultureman) when I find some of that stuff that allows you to mold (I think it’s called GREENSTUFF) and then paint over and then maybe I have something worth showing!
If you want some info about which Thundercats toys were sold in Brazil back in the days, I can give you that information too, since I had the entire collection,I think.
I can also tell some of the main differences… Some are:
Lower quality plastic and paintjobs (Cheetara’s face looks like the one from a woman who was wearing makeup in a rainy day!)
lack of “Eyes that glow” in the first edition of Lion-O (mine has a cap coverint the “hole”)
Different kinds of chains in Monkians MourningStar and Panthro’s Nunchucks (they were silver, like metal)
Mumm-Ra’s helmet was fixed in his head and he didn’t have glowing eyes too.
Companions were never sold, the same for PVC Snarf, Willykit and Willycat
Nor Lynx-O, Pummrya and BenGali
Thundertank had two variations: The original and the red door one.
Vehicles sold were Skycutter, Thunderclaw and Thundertank and I think they were just like the originals from LJN but I’m not sure, because I don’t have any from LJN.
Don’t remember seeing Cat’s Lair or the big Mumm-ra Tomb. They only sold the small ones for the PVC toys
PVC toys had different molds than the ones from LJN (But I think you already knew that)
They only sold the “Young” version of Tygra
Lion-O’s sword was ORANGE, without any painting (In fact, I hated it so much that recently I painted mine with the colors of the original from the cartoons, it looks beautiful, I’ll post a picture if you like)
There was only the Orange-Haired Lion-O for sale.
EDIT: No power rings FOR LION-O FIRST EDITION, since there were no “Glowing eyes”
Slythe’s head and legs were made from soft rubber (you could stick a needlee in it! I did it all the time! )
Vultureman head was also made from the same material (I don’t know if LJN’s was too, I am waiting to recieve mine!)
All figures were smaller than LJN’s
Cheetara’s boots were BROWN. No red version sold.
None of the other characters were sold (Hachiman, Snowman of Hook mountain, Berserkers, etc, etc)
All charatects had SCREWS on their backs! They weren’t glued like LJN’s and that was nice, we could open them to fix if something was wrong with the Battlematics.
And that’s all I can think of for now! If I remember something, I’ll tell.
