I’ve been meaning to get some Tcats artwork posted a lot sooner than this, but with my busy schedule (huzzah for commission work!), I find it hard to find the time to sit down and be inspired to draw outside of my usual genres.
That, and when it comes to Tcats, I just can’t bring myself to design an image that you see in almost all Tcats fanarts - this being fighting/weapon display/mushy pieces - not that there isn’t anything wrong with those genres, mind you; I just like to be a little more unique in my fanarts (or, attempt to be, anyway).
And this morning…a spark of inspiration…
I got into thinking about the comics that were published a few years ago and how Cheetara (especially) had been depicted - both art and characterwise - and wondered how she would’ve felt about all the fanboys ogling her within these pages; I would imagine, she would not have been thrilled in the slightest (no better way to kill a strong female role model than to have her chained and spread eagled - being drooled on by a lustful Monkian…nasty!)
I think I just may do some with Wilykit and Pumyra - both who had been mishandled in those pages as well.
Constructive Critisism is always welcomed, but please bare this in mind - I realize that this sketch does not look identical to the animated version of Cheetara (actually, any fanrat you’ll see me do is not a spot on match to the original character, no matter which series I do); that is because I am not one of the original animators, so feel no desire to mimick the original design. I prefer to add my own creative element when it comes to fanarts.
That is awesome. I’ve never read the comics, but it doesn’t sound like they did her justice. Why did you leave out the Thundercats symbol on her chest?
Well, I can only say there’s one thing that could be tweaked on this: her arms. Just a little more muscle tone in her biceps, otherwise, spot on. Also, I would point out the eyebrows, but seeing as you’re basing off the comics (and I know you know the eyebrows aren’t in the series) I see why you’re using them.
This is the stuff I like about the drawing: streamlined. I love the curves on the cat and how smooth her outfit looks on her. It looks like it melts to every curve, natural. I really like how the clothing also has folds & pulls to it, plus the lines you would see if the clothing was made in the “real” world. Then taking the setup to this picture, her expression is great!
And, of course, let’s not forget the caption! “Hey, Brainiac! My eyes are up here!” is stated louder, to make a point and then “Pervert” stated disgustingly under her breath after realizing she’s talking to a brick wall. At least that’s the way I read it.

No, in most, they hadn’t (with ethe exception of HammerHand’s Revenge - I’d say the ‘The Race’ would be amongst them, but I really loathed how they made her super busty in that depiction - there was no need for it and, quite frankly, I find it impossible with a woman with a bust that size to run anywhere near that fast without suffering from some major pgysical injury). XP
As for the lack of insignia - drawing it drives me insane; so I add it in during the coloring stage.
Your coloring is superb, Mitts. I love the background color, makes the picture feel warm, despite the character’s disposition. Also, I wasn’t sure if I was going to like those squarish spots but, dang, yours is great. And they aren’t all black too (I love the gradient effect, there). I really like the skin shadow on her neck and the cleavage area. My eyes are very pleased, too, by the white highlights throughout because they are soft enough to do their job. They’re not BAM – in your face.
