I think they just launched the pre-order to early without full approval from Warner Bros etc.
I assume they got bombarded with negative comments as they should have. These figures are not wave 6 but wave 1 of the LJN stuff. Hopefully they release a correct wave 6 and start these off on their own. I had the LJN figures as a kid and to me itâs been there done that.
Figures look great, but a hard pass for me.
I WONT BE BUYING THESE FIGURES S7.
Please Keep making the standard ultimates line and I will keep giving you money.

:rataro:
I saw pics of the new wave on Twitter, and to me, they donât even come close to the LJN originals. At least Super7 got Mumm-Raâs skin tone right, unlike in wave 2.
What a weird left turn.
I feel like it wouldâve somehow been less jarring if they just claimed they were waiting to reveal series six, and call this wave 1 of the ljn line.
Now, Iâm not saying theyâre mutually exclusive, but for five waves of cartoon collectors, it seems like most think itâs a âwasteâ of a wave. Yet for people who might want an ljn style collection, thereâs zero assurance the concept will be revisited, so i think itâs a tough sell to get them to start another thundercats shelf for duplicates of characters.
They just keep making strange decisions. When itâs not a mess thatâs mostly out of their hands - when theyâve got the ability to do whatever they want, theyâre in full control, they sometimes make decisions that iâm hard pressed to understand the virtue in.
But i donât run a toy company thatâs raking in the dough either.
Who makes these decisions at Super7? Itâs mind boggling that they would release an entire wave of LJN inspired figures.
Also, Iâve bought everything up until now, and I wonât be buying this wave 6.
Itâs a very weird call and I totally understand the initial backlash. I think itâs safe to say that most fans are pumped for all-new characters, animation inspired. That said, personally, I think the LJN wave looks cool and I am interested. I think this should be a sub-line or a parallel line though. That would have softened the blow and upset people a lot less, I think. That LJN Lion-O actually really has my interest. I wish they would use this opportunity to fix the proportions a bit. The LJN inspired Lion-O with corrected proportions would definitely be in the running for âfavorite figureâ for me. Anyway, I guess we will see what happens and it would be interesting if Super7 directly addresses the fan concerns with this wave at all.
Whatâs odd to me is, they seemed to stop on the Reaction LJN variants, now theyâre doing Ultimate LJN variants and only the Lion-O and Mumm-Ra overlap. So Iâm sitting here wondering if they donât intend to make full lines of the LJN variants, or are they holding back for con exclusives, or what?
Brian already hinted at two items not in a wave and only one of which is going to be generally available. So far, Iâve been able to sit on the sidelines and watch all the anxiety (aside from my fretting over the tank) but now I officially have skin in the game.
Since Wave 2 & 4 were already released and distributed by stores a month ago, whatâs holding Wave 6 and why did they back out the preorders that were already revealed?
Maybe they listened to yâall and are stopping the line. I mean, next to Silver Hawks, this might be their lowest revenue line [emoji848] I know that turtles line is doing numbers, as well as the GI Joe stuff.
Anyone close to Brian able to ask for an update on ThunderCats? Itâs been a few weeks now, and we still havenât heard anything.
If you think that Super7 stopped making Thundercatâs Ultimates then youâre wrong.
Weâre definitely seeing quite the delay here though.
What is the hold up?
2 months. This whole âjumped the gunâ is a lie. They teased LJN mumm-ra a week before. It was planned. Possibly the backlash had them rethink it.
Maybe whoever owns LJNâs IP now has waited for years for someone to colour Thundercats in the old LJN colours so that they can make a claim that they own these colour schemesâŚ
Yeah, probably not.
Although there was some backlash in general, I saw some people were very happy to see the LJN versions. For example, the Geek.Dad.Life Youtube guy was excited for the toy colours over the cartoon versions. I thought they looked good for what they were, they just werenât something I was looking to collect.
I think since itâs very little retooling they can probably make these fairly cheap. The investment is already in the existing molds, so I would think even if the fans were overall less than happy it would still be something worth doing for them?
I guess weâll see what happens next, eventually.
Jakks Pacific is the old LJN if I remember correctly. Honestly I think theyâd do some good ThunderCats figures.
Definitely weird to see this wave still not announced. At this rate weâll have the opposite of what weâve had in the past - instead of waiting on wave after wave to be delivered, we might have all waves in hand and no preorders other than the special out of wave items.
Jakks pacific and LJN were both founded by the same guy but JP doesnât own the LJN name or hold the rights to any of the previous IP.
Jakks made some awesome wrestling figures. Especially theire Ruthless Agression/WWE Classics/Deluxe/TNA figures. Granted the heights on some of them could have been better, but they were fun sturdy toys and the articulation on them is still better than some recent figures.
