Ghostbustrs 2016 Trailer Reactions

I honestly don’t think the Ghostbusters movie will be as bad as Fantastic Four.

I know the feeling about TFA - it was more a remake than a bona fide sequel. Same characters, different names.

Let’s hope Rogue One doesn’t follow any plots of the other movies.

To quote the hook line of a Mary Chapin Carpenter song, “it’s too much to expect, but it’s not too much to ask.”

As far as I know it’s about the construction of the Death Star. I don’t think they could shoe horn the plot of any of the other films into that LOL.

A new trailer has been released. Personally I don’t think it is any better than the first.

Still looks garbage. All of the leads are awful. Even Chris Hemsworth, who I like in other stuff, looks terrible in this.

The humour in it is so weird, awkward and cringe worthy.

Even with the faults The Force Awakens has I still remember the closer it got to release date and when I was watching it in the cinema I was still struck with the excitement of think wow this is actually happening they really made another movie and got the original cast back.

The more I see the 2016 Ghostbusters it kind of the complete opposite effect.

Some of the humour is holding a mirror up to certain sexist attitudes.

I don’t know…maybe the trailer was just put together poorly, again. But maybe its that old saying of not being able to make a silk purse out of a sows ear.

How so? And for what reason, I thought this was a movie about catching ghosts.

i’am a massive gb fan but what i have seen so far in the trailer’s it doesn’t look like they have done it justice . or is it just me ?

I think the best justice to Ghostbusters would have been to leave the franchise alone or just make a proper sequel instead of a remake/reboot.

The bit about hiring a male secretary based solely on his looks - holding a mirror up to the fact that men make judgements about women based solely on their appearance in the real world.

i think they should of went down the proper sequel route myself . on leaving the franchise alone i will make that judgement when i’ve seen the movie but based on the trailer’s i fear they should have left it alone . hope i’am wrong

They should have made a movie of Extreme Ghostbusters.

Is it, or is it just as sexist as if it were the other way around?

My thoughts exactly! Filmmakers these days feel that the way to combat misogyny is with misandry! LOL! :biggrin

And, as far as I can remember, in the original movie, Janine wasn’t hired because of her looks. I certainly wouldn’t consider her drop dead gorgeous!

I know Janine wasn’t a stunner. My point with this scene is, if men are uncomfortable with it, then they should imagine how uncomfortable women are with being objectified in that way in real life.

I totally get that and you are right about it. This is something that should be addressed. What I’m curious about is is “Ghostbusters” the right platform for such social commentary? Is anyone every going to take it seriously if it is done this way? If let’s say Erin Brokovich was made as a comedy with Melissa McCarthy in the lead role, would it’s message have had the same impact?
