Game: Thundercats Quintet Game

TOPIC: Evil characters (other than Mumm-Ra and the Mutants) who have held the Sword of Omens.

  1. Enflamer
  2. Tug-Mug
  3. Captain Shiner
  4. Jackalman

Sorry Somalina, Jackalman doesn’t count. It’s other than Mumm-Ra and the Mutants.

  1. Enflamer
  2. Tug-Mug
  3. Captain Shiner
    4. Grune.

  4. Grune
    5. Luna

I don’t think this one’s been done before. If it has, I apologize!

NEW TOPIC: Named bodies of water (on any planet)

  1. Oceans of boiling phoz

I don’t think it has either. I think I did a general place name once, places called “the X of Y”, like the Cave of Time etc.

NEW TOPIC: Named bodies of water (on any planet)

  1. Oceans of boiling phoz
  2. River of Despair

Btw - there’s still at least two answers to my latest trivia question that nobody’s got! Come on people, get thinking!

NEW TOPIC: Named bodies of water (on any planet)

  1. Oceans of boiling phoz
  2. River of Despair
    3. Whirlpool of Infinity
  1. Oceans of boiling phoz
  2. River of Despair
    3. Whirlpool of Infinity
  3. Well of Doubt
  1. Oceans of boiling phoz
  2. River of Despair
  3. Whirlpool of Infinity
  4. Well of Doubt
  5. Acid Lake

How come everyone spells Inflamer as Enflamer? The production art and “Hear the Roar” guide book have it with an I.

Good question!

Mind you, I think there’s a question mark over acid lake. It is described as being pure acid, and acid isn’t water.

Of course, it’s not my quintet, so we await Zax’s verdict on this.

That’s a good point, I reckon on those grounds it shouldn’t count. I don’t think that Acid Lake should really qualify as a lake either.

“lake1
noun: lake; plural noun: lakes
a large area of water surrounded by land.”

OK, I think I’ve got one:

TOPIC: Named bodies of water (on any planet)

  1. Oceans of boiling phoz
  2. River of Despair
  3. Whirlpool of Infinity
  4. Well of Doubt
    5. Geyser Of Life

Awaiting Zax’s confirmation after all this!

I stepped away for one day and the thread exploded!

You may have conceded this one, Booshman, but I’m giving it back to you because chemistry. Acid Lake is a lake, straight up. When Lion-O says “pure acid”, he’s being melodramatic, or he just doesn’t know any better. Most of the acids that we think of when we hear the word “acid” are acidic compounds (solids, liquids, or gasses) dissolved in water—aqueous solutions. Even pure acids that are liquid at room temperature (like sulfuric acid) are never found that way in nature because of their strong affinity for water (because they are strong acids, they dissolve readily in water), and it does rain on Third Earth.

So, yes, Acid Lake counts! I am not fond of Well of Doubt as an answer, though—a well is a manmade hole or shaft used to access groundwater.

Here’s where we are, then.

TOPIC: Named bodies of water (on any planet)

  1. Oceans of boiling phoz
  2. River of Despair
  3. Whirlpool of Infinity (a feature of the River, but it is named, so I’ll take it)
    X. Well of Doubt
  4. Acid Lake
  5. Geyser Of Life

Incidentally, there’s also the following:

  • Baleful Swamp
  • River of Poison
  • Dreary Canal

LiamABC is up next. Sorry I didn’t get back here to reply in a more timely manner!

OK. Thanks for that Zax - I was feeling a little guilty as this is the second topic in a row where I’ve put a question mark on Booshman’s answer. Nothing personal, just my pedantry. I was diagnosed with Aspergers back in my teens.

So, time to think of a new topic. Getting tricky, as this is a finite resource and I worry we’re running out of topics! (Especially tricky for me as I only really know the first season!)

All right.

NEW TOPIC: Episodes where “the catchphrase” becomes a fix-all.

  1. Mechanical Plague

  1. Mechanical Plague
  2. The Mumm-Ra Berbil
    3. Every episode in season 2 (lol, j/k). Chain of Loyalty

You’re not too far wrong there! That’s one of my problems with season 2!

We can certainly take this topic to at least ten episodes, if not twenty!

  2. The Mumm-Ra Berbil
  3. Chain of Loyalty
    4. Mumm-Ra Lives! Part V

    5. Day of the Eclipse

Let’s go to at least 10.

  1. Mechanical Plague
  2. The Mumm-Ra Berbil
  3. Chain of Loyalty
  4. Mumm-Ra Lives! Part V
  5. Day Of The Eclipse
  6. The Demolisher

Not “The Demolisher” - it just summons the others, and then when they get there, Lion-O rips that massive tuning fork apart with his bare hands.

  2. The Mumm-Ra Berbil

  3. Chain of Loyalty
  4. Mumm-Ra Lives! Part V
  5. Day Of The Eclipse
  6. Dream Master
    7. Return to Thundera! Part V

Should “Mumm-Ra Lives! Part V” count? Lion-O calls for the Sword, and in using the catchphrase gives the other Cats the strength to free themselves, but it’s the Talisman that defeats Mumm-Ra in the end.

It’s just as valid as “The Mumm-Ra Berbil” and “Dream Master”. And on the same note . . .
