Game: ThunderCat Trivia

Ok, I’m still trying to come up with a decent question. If anyone has one ready, feel free to jump in before me.

Ok, here goes:
In the first season there are only two episodes in which Slithe appears without Jackalman. Please name the episodes.

“All That Glitters” and “Dimension Doom”.

Wow! That was fast!

Well, I have just re-watched the first season to test out that continuity order (and can people PLEASE start talking on that thread again, it needs revising!). And the trick here is that these two episodes featured Slithe and no other mutants. Unless there’s also no Jackalman in “The Micrits” (entirely possible as Vultureman is seen flying a Skycutter), those are the two.

These two episodes also suggest an alliance between Slithe and Mumm-Ra that is sadly absent from most of the series, and is never further developed. Tygra even refers to them as a unit in “All That Glitters”, saying when they encounter the drained Inflamor, “Slithe and Mumm-Ra again! It has all been their evil plot from the very beginning.”

These two episodes were also both on the “Spaceship Beneath the Sands” home video release, one right after the other, which only added to the feeling that Slithe and Mumm-Ra were very much in cahoots. :slythe: :mummra:

Interesting - I never looked at it that way. In the case of “Dimension Doom” I figured Slithe was basically there as the “cabbagehead” (a term I once saw in the Star Trek nitpicker’s guides, apparently meaning the ignorant-of-the-backstory character who is there so that we can get the explanation).

Certainly, in both episodes, he doesn’t have much active involvement in the plot.

Slithe does seem to take a more active interest in Mumm-Ra’s doings than the other mutants, admittedly, and you’re right, it would have been interesting to explore this more deeply. Unlike Monkian and Jackalman, he’s more interested in learning what he can, and he recognises Mumm-Ra’s abilities. It could have paved the way for a more subtle power struggle between the two.

There is a tension set up by Leonard Starr between Mumm-Ra and Slithe, first in “The Unholy Alliance” and again in “Spaceship Beneath the Sands”, where it’s clearly important to Mumm-Ra that the transient nature of his power be kept secret from the Mutants. As you mentioned, Slithe starts to catch on and is clearly interested in undercutting Mumm-Ra’s self-declared supremacy.

Monkian: His power is unlimited.
Slithe: Is it? Then why must the great Mumm-Ra always return to his tomb, if not to replenish that power?

We know that Slithe doesn’t like being anyone’s pawn—it would have been very gratifying to see him take advantage of Mumm-Ra’s weaknesses. Jackalman rebelled and Monkian bargained, but Slithe never got his chance to make a move.

Technically, Jackalman’s Rebellion was against the other Mutants, not Mumm-Ra (who wasn’t in the episode) - although he DID have a go in “The Transfer”. Not a very well thought out attempt, of course, Mumm-Ra took the unit from him easily.

Yes, Monkian made his bargain - and also let’s not forget Vultureman’s attempts, in both “The Superpower Potion” - and “your” episode, “The Zaxx Factor”! But Slithe never tried anything so daring himself. He was probably waiting for a better chance.

Jackalman does appear in Mycrits. I love that ep.

So I was right first time then. (Still waiting for official confirmation!)

Sorry I got caught up in the great conversation in this thread and forgot about the answer!

“All That Glitters” and “Dimension Doom” are certainly correct. I actually now believe there are three as I had completely forgotten about “All That Glitters”! The other one I was thinking of is “Fond Memories”.

Please feel free to provide us with a new question.

LOL!

Actually I’m not sure “Fond Memories” counts - Mumm-Ra creates Slithe’s picture, but doesn’t bring him to life; all he does is take the warp gas grenade.

Please feel free to provide us with a new question.

OK, I can’t remember if I had any others in mind, but here’s one I’ve been stockpiling.

As far as I know, there is only one episode where Panthro has ever ridden in the BACK of the Thundertank. What was the episode, and who was driving?

Was it in “The Transfer”? I think Tygra was driving in that one and Cheetara (or was it Lion-O) was sitting besides him while Panthro was in the back.

I’m interrupting again with a discussion point. Is that actually Slithe in “Fond Memories”? I always figured that Mumm-Ra conjured imitation versions of Slithe, Rotaro, Safari Joe, and Spidera, and that none of it was actually real. Otherwise, wouldn’t all those characters have had a moment of “How did I get here?!”?

ETA: Whoops. Totally missed LiamABC’s more recent post addressing this.

Excellent job Wilycub - 100% correct. Tygra is driving, Cheetara is upfront with him, Lion-O and Panthro are in the back, having been picked up while chasing Jackalman on foot.

There was one instance of Tygra driving and Lion-O next to him, that was in “Turmagar The Tuska” - initially, Cheetara was in the front with Tygra, but after the Vampire Mermaid incident, Lion-O was with him, when they set off again. Lion-O was still there when they reached the outskirts of Tuskania; and they had those lines about getting there fast - but then when they finally arrive at the combat zone, Cheetara’s upfront again! So much for urgency!

Actually, I was half expecting someone to say “Spitting Image”, where Lion-O is driving the tank and finds a barely conscious Panthro at the top of the cliff.

Anyway Wilycub, you’re up next!

Good point about “Fond Memories” Liam and Zax. I would say you are both correct.

Thank you Liam!

Haha. That did spring to my mind but then I recalled that Panthro was sitting in front when Cheetara calls Lion-O on the tank’s radio and he jumps into the driver’s seat.

Thanks! Ok, since I feel like I don’t have any of the standard Trivia questions, I am going to go with a slightly different type of question. Hopefully you guys will enjoy it!

Imagine this: Some of the characters on Thundercats have gotten a chance to star in a movie about themselves (sort of a biopic). Now they have chosen the title of their biopic from famous Hollywood movies which they think best suits their movie. Below are the titles, can you guess who’s biopic each one is?

[ul]
[li]The Lion King (this one’s too easy!)
[/li][li]Speed
[/li][li]The Mechanic
[/li][li]Day of the Jackal
[/li][li]Twins
[/li][li]The Blind Side
[/li][li]The Last Samurai
[/li][li]The Mummy Returns
[/li][li]Planet of the Apes
[/li][li]Pirates of the Caribbean
[/li][/ul]

Have fun! Oh and some might have more than one possible answer. Any one will do.

I thought Lion-O was still driving at that point, and that Panthro doesn’t start driving until after the Wollos accuse him.

I’ve given more than one for some of them.

That is correct. By “he” I meant Lion-O jumps into the driver’s seat while Panthro is still dozing in the passengers seat.

Wow! That was quick! And you got all correct! Well done! A few other that I had in mind which would also be correct are:

[ul]
[li]The Blind Side - Lynx-O, Claudus[/li][li]The Mummy Returns - Mumm-Rana[/li][li]Pirates of the Caribbean - Captain Cracker, Any of the Berserkers[/li][/ul]

Your turn, Liam.

It’s getting harder and harder to come up with effective trivia questions! My last one about the Thundertank was a little sliver of an earlier trivia question I asked, about Panthro just being a passenger (in which I don’t think anybody got “The Transfer”, so I felt justified in re-using that info!).

Let me think . . .

OK! Got one.

In which episode was Jackalman the only mutant to appear? (I can only think of one, if there are others, I’m sure I’ll hear the answers soon enough!)
