Game: Name That Error!

She could at least have looked!

Third Earth to BB

Sorry about the delay everyone. Unexpected life events and all that.

Can you spot at least two errors in this screenshot from “The Trouble With Thunderkittens”? BTW, lets not count Tygra’s missing insignia, as that type of error crops up about as often as WilyKat with a solid stripe in his hair.

Panthro looks like he has no arms!

And the two brown fins on the Feliner don’t have the same number of lines in their designs.

Also, Snarf’s feet look flipped… no one’s feet would take that position when sitting, they would turn to the inside, not the outside.

The screenshot that just keeps giving (errors, that is). Truth be told, when I originally posted this shot, I had only one error in mind. Immediately after, I saw how Panthro had somehow turned into a blob and so I edited the post to include at least two errors.

Liam gave a correct answer. Way to go! I did not notice the lining detail of the fins at all and normally would probably not be bothered, but having them so distinctly depicted in the very same frame is a bit ridiculous. Tygra_Rules’ note regarding Snarf’s feet is also correct. Methinks this tiny scene was animated very quickly for some reason - not that the rest of the episode features especially stunning animation (by Thundercats’ standards at least).

It is Liam’s turn. I wonder, though, if anyone would like to go for “extra credit” and try to determine the error that caused me to post this screenshot originally. You won’t win a turn, its just for giggles. Keep in mind that for this game if I mention the name of the episode, I am doing so because the mistake is likely to be a continuity error for said episode.

Got it - Cheetara’s staff is on her bracelet and this is from “The Trouble With Thunderkittens” when her staff is back on Third Earth!

Bam, you got it! Was it lazy for the animators to continually make this mistake, or was it even lazier of me to keep posting the same error from different episodes? :cheetara

Haha. OK, here’s my new one:

When we first see the Mutants at the start of “Mumm-Ra Lives” what’s the issue with Slithe and Jackalman?

Well, they’re alive, for one. Having run into Fire Rock Mountain before it collapsed, they really ought to be dust.

That’s it precisely! At the very least, they should have been heavily bandaged! Your turn Zax!

As a child, the only episode I managed to see past “Thundercats Ho!” was “Catfight” and until Cartoon Network ran the show again in '97, I had assumed that all the mutants died. Slithe and Jackalman definitely, who as we’ve stated were seen going into the mountain the moment before it exploded - but also Vultureman, Rataro and Monkian I figured had all drowned in their defeats as seen in the movie. It really is odd that absolutely no mention of “lucky escape” or even injury is mentioned by any of these characters even as the show is actively trying to maintain continuity by being in large part about Mumm-Ra’s “resurrection”.

Maybe the original idea was for the Mutants to perish so Mumm-Ra had to look for the Lunataks? That’d have been creepy for a child’s show though, even if the ones to die were the baddies.

I spent a good five minutes examining the shots of them playing cards before I asked myself, why them specifically and not Monkian and Vultureman? And then I remembered “ThunderCats Ho! Part Five”.

Anyway, new error! What’s wrong with this shot?

Kit and Kat appear to be side by side, when in other shots they show Kit sitting behind Kat.

Hmmm. That’s not what I had in mind… The error I’m looking for is much less subtle.

Is it that the right handle is missing?

Well apparently this shot is just a disaster. No, I hadn’t even noticed that. I would encourage you all to watch the scene back—the error is specific to this frame of the shot.

Is it missing its right ear?

Ah, I got it. The background changes for just this one frame. Instead of the laser-firing Technopede on the ground, it’s just empty ground with a slightly different color.
