Who else here likes this anime series? I can’t get enough of it! The realism of the rules of alchemy in the toon are amazing. Also the script and serious aura of the interaction between the characters is flawless. For those who don’t know about it FullMetal Alchemist is a japenese anime that is set in the early 1900’s in europe in an alternate reality where alchemy is real and is practiced by a branch of goverment known as state alchemists.
The way alchemy works in the cartoon is by harnesing energy through symbols called transmutation circles in order to manipulate the chemicals within matter. It stars Al and Ed Elric, brothers who are searching for the legendary philosopher’s stone in order to regain Al’s physical body which he lost when the brothers tried to bring thier mother back from the dead in a ritual known as human transmutation. Now Al’s soul is bound to a huge suit of armor. Ed lost his limbs also and now has metallic ones hence the name FullMetal.
I highly recommend it for those who havent seen it
excllent show. Ive been into this show for a few years. The artwork is fantastic, and the storyline is great. Of course I love most anime so this isnt suprising. My big complaint with it is the fact that there are only 4 eps on a dvd, and that halfway through them some logo pops up on the screen for a few minutes. I have one of the manga books for this series, but actually havent read it yet.
Damn that show was amasing. I’ve watched a ton of animated shows, some good, some ok… some just weird but FMA is the king of Anime.
It’s well written, the plot is intricate but not to the point where it collapses on itself, the characters are engaging, although there is a clear villian how they all tie together is well kept a secret till the very end to give a final surprise.
My only complaint is that while they try to make alchemy out to be a science, it’s effects are far too akin to magic and the rules they set in place and say are the fundamental laws get broken on too regular a basis.
But that is a minor niggle that does not marginalise a fantastic show.
Hmm a plot twist at the end. I didnt know (of course I havent seen all the eps though) Looking forward to it.
I also agree with the fact that there one fundamental truth seems to be broken alot in the show, i have noticed that and wondered how the hell they were able to do something
Well not just that, but alot of what gets said in the first episode when al is trying to explain it gets broken. The other main one been, materials needs to be of similar property, but over the course of the series we see stone getting changed into metal several times.
