Front Page Facelift; Adding Movies to Nav Bar

Since I’ve put the redesign on an indefinite hold, I’m going to go ahead and make some changes on the front page. I also need to add the Movies section to the nav bar. It may not be an important area at the moment, but it will definitely be gaining ground as 2009 rolls in and I’d like to build momentum as early as I can.

I haven’t announced anything yet, but I’ve got some surprises in stored for the launch of the Movie section straight from some people who are directly working on the movie. If everything works out the way I want it, the section should start off pretty good, to say the least.

That being said, I may have to remove Merchandise from the main nav bar to make room for the Movie section. It’ll eventually come back when we get the redesign up and running.

Chris here…

It all sounds fine to me - I assume that all the pages in the site will update automatically, as the bit of code in each HTML page linking to the site’s main navigation bar will simply just link to a replacement version? (Hope this question makes sense, LOL!)

Looking forward to seeing the Movie section - I noticed your “If you could ask the director one question” thread! If I was going to make one suggestion, might it be worth just calling the section “Movie” rather than “Movies”? The reason I say this is because “Movies” might confuse people into thinking that either a) there’s more than one movie coming out, or b) that it’s a section containing multimedia downloads. Hope you don’t mind me making this suggestion - please can you LMK what you think?

Take care…

It won’t update automatically unfortunately. Actually it would update on the pages I worked on (the Toys, Community, About), but not the Cartoon…and only the pages I worked on in the Comics section. This goes back to the whole “people having different ways of writing HTML and wanting the redesign to unify the site” issue which I really don’t want to bring up again. You guys will have to change it on your pages somehow. It’s like how the logo on the top of the page doesn’t link back to the index page on your guy’s pages, but everywhere else it does.

As for the Movies, yeah I guess it makes sense to put it as Movie.

Oh and I might keep the Merchandise and remove the Site Map. It makes more sense.

EDIT: Actually, I’ll probably be able to update all the pages on the site with the link. I don’t think it should be a problem. I’ll probably make the logo link to the front page as well on the pages that don’t already. We’ll see.
