hi again it’s The Copperkid again and I was curious how the majority of you all protected your figures both MOC and Loose. I’ve seen a bunch of sites, some with products better than others, and just wasn’t sure what to purchase for the quality. I don’t want to pay $5 for a plastic bag that’s no better than a Zip-Loc right? at them moment i have many of my loose figures in just that, Zip-Loc bags and/or wrapped up in plastic grocery bags snugly and in a jumbo rubbermaid container that i’m wondering how well “sealed” everything is with this combo.
Would anyone mind sharing what they use for MOC and Loose figures, and any products and/or websites that they recommend for purchasing said products? thanks everyone
I store my mint on card figures in Pro-Tech cases made for Star Wars Unleashed figures, You can find lots on ebay or a few distributors have them for under $4 each, $3-$3.50 if you buy in bulk. The regular carded set of 20 fits in them nicely. Also for the companions I use Pro-Tech Starting Lineup cases which are considerably cheaper, under $2 each and you can find large purchases in the $1 each range. I’m still looking for something to put Driller, Stinger, the Ram-Pagers etc inside. My Laser Sabers and higher end figures I have under glass along with the boxed items because I haven’t found a cost effective option for individual display. Before I sold all my loose figures I had them inside a glass display case in a dio-rama with Mumm-Ra’s Tomb and Cat’s Lair plus the figures with different vehicles, I should have taken some pictures… But they were out of sunlight and direct air so I think that was a good way to store them as well.
Loose figures are kept in Ziplock freezer bags (much thicker) along with the figures weapon in a smaller baggie if the weapon is small and delicate (Panthro’s Chucks). All Loose figures are kept in boxes that have peanuts and bubble wrapping on the bottom and top, in the unlikely event the box falls. The more cushioning the better.
MOC items are wrapped in bubble wrap and kept in boxes with peanuts.
And I am seriously running out of Thundercats storage space.
Well right now all my MOC/MIB toys are ALL stored under the bed, in boxes on the shelf or above my wardrobe closet. When I move out and have my own place, I’ll buy a nice expensive glass display case and then display them. For the time being I have some toys in pro-tech cases and in plastic containers out of sight and any light.
Does anyone believe that the AFA cases are superior to the Pro Tech cases that are discussed above for storing ThunderCats toys? Obviously it is more expensive to send toys to AFA but I’d be willing to consider sending some if I knew it was a better way to archive the toys.
Can someone confirm?
Also, is there a Canadian equivalent of the AFA so that I don’t have to ship this stuff cross border?
Finally the CGA UF5 Acrylic Case i was talking about in a previous thread arrived, it’s exactly the same with the AFA protective cases barring the grading sticker, also it appears to be slightly shaded, due to the UF5 resistance material i guess.
