I tried watching several episodes of Silverhawks and the show is an absolute mess. It is just a mess of poorly executed ripped off ideas. Worst of all the heroic characters are soooo boring and the stories are just really dull.

I really liked SilverHawks and wish the show would have lasted longer, most of all for the villains.
Yes, I agree with Mark in that the heroes were boring and very similar between each other unlike TCs, and they had no weapons (and I never liked the introduction of the 4 new SHs to be honest), but I did like the Galactic Mob. IMO, that was one of the best villain teams I saw when I was a kid. I think Mumm-Ra had a better design than Monstar though (when they were transformed; Monstar in his pre-transformation appearance was scarier than his post-transformation one).

I can’t stand those shows. There are few really good acts on them. They seem to be more ego trips for the ‘‘talent’’ judges.

back on topic of episodes I have a few questions about the episode garden of delights. The sword of omens reacts differently to mumm-ra in this episode than in any of the other episodes. It basically tries to flee from his touch in the episode which I don’t see happening in any other episodes where is basically acts like an inanimate object. also Willa can use the sword of omens in the episode just as well as lion-o can. I thought only the lord of the thundercats can use the sword that way. so does this mean Willa can become the first lady of the thundercats? is the sword saying she and lion-o are romantically compatible?

I’d also like to point out the episode"spitting image" is pretty well animated and everyone has a slightly different look to them. Also mumm-Ra is rather creepy in the episode as well partly due to his mannerisms and voice. It’s a rather far cry from what he’s reduced to in seasons 3 and especially 4.

Yes, that has always been something that has annoyed me. The way the sword behaves from one episode to another often differs drastically. In “Garden of Delights” Mumm-Ra has trouble even holding the sword, while in other episodes he can do it without any problem. Many episodes show other villains (like Mutants, Lunataks, Grune, Cap Shiner etc) also able to handle the sword. :confused
Also in many episodes, the sword does not warn Lion-O when one of the ThunderCats is in danger or captured, like “Mongor” or “Safari Joe”. I think the reason pretty much boils down to what Mark M said: “The joys of the big writing team”. Too many writers spoil the consistency!
Again, this is also a strange incident. Willa can handle it fine and even make it grow by saying “Hoooo!”. Yet in episodes like “The Shifter”, Lion-O in WilyKat’s body nor WilyKat in Lion-O’s body were able to do that, even though they are both ThunderCats. :00

I figured the sword warned Willa about Mumm-Ra’s plan in “The Garden of Delights.”
That was pretty amusing, not my cup of tea, but they put the effort in. The Thundercats were a bit too slender to match the source material, the warrior maidens however, the highlight of the act.

I think in Garden of Delights there was a lot of halucagenic out of body experiences going on so maybe the scene with Willa making the sword grow was a fantasy in her mind brought on by Mumm-Ra’s spell.

That’s possible. That episode was a bit confusing when I first saw it (mind you I was just a little kid!;)). I didn’t immediately “get” that Willa was pretending to go along with Mumm-Ra and especially that Tygra was fighting off his addiction by pretending to eat the fruit. It seems even David Crichton, the writer of “Hear the Roar!” didn’t get that either, as he wrote in his review of the episode that the scene of Tygra “biting” into the fruit was an animation mistake as his mouth was nowhere near the fruit.
Also back then I didn’t quite make out what exactly Panthro, Lion-O and Cheetara figured out from that spy video that Panthro shot using his belt insignia. Only at the end was I like, “Okay. Now I get it!” :biggrin

Did you ever notice in a lot of episodes Mumm-Ra had the chance to just kill the Thundercats and didn’t do it because he had some other plan going on. Much like a lot of 80’s villains.
He had Tygra in Garden of Delights.
Panthro in Spitting Image.
Cheetara in Pumra.
Lion-O in Thundercats Ho pt 4.
Lynxo, Bengali and Pumyra in Thundercats Ho pt 5.
Same the Mutants. They had Tygra in “Fireballs from Plun-Darr”, Cheetara and Tygra in “Spaceship Benath the Sands”, Cheetara and Panthro in “Tight Squeeze” and so on…
