I don’t know if I’ve ever seen The Last Unicorn. I always think of Unico when I see that title but I know they’re not the same.
It is a classic movie. Yes some of the songs are HORRIBLE but the story is great and the animation is beautiful as well. And besides, if your a girl you kinda HAVE to see the movie because well..unicorns man. Another reason why I loved Thundercats was because of the Unicorn Forest. XD
It’s from the book by the same name. I loved the songs in the movie myself. And that rascally cat, lol. I’m guessing many of the same animators as TCats, too. The Last Unicorn is one of the first I remember seeing in a movie theater when I young, along with uh… The Fox and the Hound and Wrath of Khan.
Some of the songs were great, but others were bad (Now that I’m a woman…mostly..worst..song..ever..). Its always my go to movie if I’m feeling a bit down and want to just be a girl. I love love the book as well, and the comic re release they did too was good.

Hey, sorry I haven’t been here in a while (Classes and a new job will do that). But here are my faves:
Heavy Metal- The first animated movie that showed me cartoons could be for teens and adults and not exclusively for kids. Also had a great Hard Rock/Metal soundtrack that included Dio-era Black Sabbath (“The Mob Rules”), Blue Oyster Cult (“Veteran of the Psychic Wars”) and Journey (“Open Arms”) among others.
Rock & Rule- A kind of obscure movie from Canadian studio Nelvana set in a post-apocalyptic Earth populated by anthropomorphic mutant animals. It tells the story of a struggling Rock band whose female lead singer is kidnapped by an aging rock star who wants to use her voice to summon a demon from Hell. Again, a cool Rock soundtrack featuring Cheap Trick, Debbie Harry and Lou Reed.
Transformers: The Movie- The T.V. cartoon always played it safe, so this was an eye-opener as this was practically a snuff film by comparison! And Prime’s death to me was right up there with Spock’s from Star Trek II. And again, a cool Hard Rock soundtrack!
Fire & Ice- I’ll forgive Ralph Bakshi his version The Lord of the Rings, since he made this in collaboration with the late, great Frank Frazetta, and it really is a good film. If you’re a fan of Frazetta’s work, then you definitely need to see this movie!
Akira- Another one of those movies that showed animation didn’t have to be for kids. I just liked how edgy and violent it was. Still cool to watch now after all these years.
The Last Unicorn- Beautiful, poetic, poignant, and just a great Fantasy movie, period. I just wish R/B could have brought that same level of sophistication to Thundercats.

Oh god…all I can think of is Chamberlin with his 'MmmmmMmmmmmm" little noise. That movie still gives me nightmares at times…
My daughter got her nickname “Gelfling” from that movie because she looked like Kira when she was a baby.
