I joined this page in 2008 (although I’d lurked here since probably around the time it was founded). I’ve never really played by the book here. I never bothered posting some silly “HAI GAIS I LOVE THUNDRCATZZZZZ I WANT TO MAKE LOTS O THUNDRFRANDZ HERE !!! XD XD XD XD XD” post when I joined. I just jumped in and started contributing my opinion on here. Often times it was brash and unapologetic, but its who I am and what I wanted to bring. I often times called out people for posts I thought were silly or noobish. I rubbed people (and at least one moderator) the wrong way defending my position on my passion for the purity of the original Thundercats figures and toylines. I threw my weight around for the betterment of Thundercats.
I never came on here to make friends, just points. I universally take credit for coining the phrase ‘Bandaicats’ when the new toyline was announced (I’m the first one to have posted it here). I was never a jerk to be a jerk though, and I think in that coming through in my opinions, it won me respect in the community, and a few friends along the way. I kind of mellowed out a bit towards the end, and that came with me gradually being excited about the new show and somewhat more accepting of the new opinions that came along with the new members. At the end of the day, a community has to grow.
I’ve basically posted here from day one, going against the grain so to speak, so its only fitting that I post a farewell message in an “Introduce yourself!” forum when I never bothered to introduce myself. You were going to know me from the posts I made on here.
As excited as I am about posting here about the new show, there’s other things I’m working. I’ve got a limited amount of free time to spend here on the interwebz, and as much as I’ve enjoyed this place for the last 3+ years, I just don’t have the time to contribute here right now.
That’s not to say I’ll never return. That’s not to say I’ll never post here again. Just right now I’ve got other things I’m working on and other opportunities that take precedence. So the time of Grune on here regularly every evening are over, for now. It was great and I’ve enjoyed it. My goal was to come on here, show my knowledge of my favorite show of all time, share my opinions on the matter, and not budge an inch. I’ve ****ed off plenty of people in the process, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Thank you all, enjoy the peace and quiet…you never know if and when I might return to destroy it.
