That would have been an interesting time travel episode. 
Myonara, thunderkittens weren’t in “Time Switch” neither in “Trouble wih Time”, but they were there in “Thundercubs”, when cubs Cheetara, Tygra and Panthro entered the cave, so he knew about it.
I got the impression that gases had built up over time making it like a time bomb and more fragile than it had been in the past. Of course it only took a swift kick from Snarf to save the Thunderkittens when they got trapped inside one.

I can’t imagine the adult ThunderCats would not have told them. As much as the kittens seemed to roam around and explore on their own, they would need to be warned of any dangers out there and what to avoid. Would have been irresponsible on the adult Cats part not to, sort of like how parents warn their kids not to go certain places. 
@Tygra_Rules: I haven’t seen Thundercubs yet, I only ever saw the first half of the show. I don’t know if I stopped watching after that, if the channel changed the time it aired so I couldn’t, or if the local affiliate just stopped showing it, period.
@Code: That’s what I mean by sent them to explore other places, to keep them away from the cave. Parents don’t always say why they do things. If a parent doesn’t want a kid to be somewhere, it’s easy enough (in theory) to send them elsewhere to do something else instead.
It’s a 5 part episode, so a little lengthy.

If I were you, I’d watch just to “The Last Day”… after that they got back to New Thundera and the show got really bad (it already got bad after the 5-parts “Mumm-Ra Lives”, IMO)… not to say Tygra was only in 2 or 3 eps out of 20 after “The Last Day” 
Here’sone thing / inconsistency that always bothered me form the show.
In “Trouble with Time”, Tygra entered the cave and turned old very fast without knowing at first what was happeniong to him (he started just by feeling weak), which made him unable to get out… ok with that.
In “Time Switch” Lion-O entered the cave as a baby, not knowing where he was going in, and came out at exactly the same age he had before the time switch. How did he know when to come out? And how did he know where he was going in? Same with “Thundercubs”. The episode showed that little Cheetara, Tygra and Pantrho didn’t remember anything of their adult life, so how did they remembered the cave? I think they would have liked to explore it as the kids they were, and get really old inside it because, just like Tygra in “Trouble with Time”, they wouldn’t have had idea of what will happen to them inside the cave until it was too late for them and got too weak to get out. All fo them Lion-O, Cheetara, Tygra and Panthro should have started to feel weak before they got old, and get caught inside the cave before they could do something about it, just like what happened to Tygra the first time we saw the cave. You can argue they knew the cave by then, but it’s not true because when tehy got back to their infant selves, they forgot everything they lived in their adult lives.
Finally, in “Thundercubs”, they had to get the TCs inside the cave to turn them back to their adult forms, but in “Return of the Thundercubs”, Lion-O did it by summoning the Eye of Thundera… why didn’t he do that the first time? That was just another “the sword can do anything at all” thing we saw in the last eps.
I think the plothole is he aged rapidly and then stalled long enough for the others to rescue him. Not something I thought about as a kid, though.
Lion-O was hungry. They put a biscuit from their food rations on a stick and held it in front of Lion-O so that he would crawl into the cave. Once he was in the cave, he kept crawling. As for when to come out, Tygra was holding onto the rope he’d tied around Lion-O’s waist and made a comment that if his calculations were correct, then Lion-O should be ready and started pulling on the rope and Lion-O walked out. Perhaps Tygra was the only one able to gauge how long it would take Lion-O to age in there based on his own experiences and first hand knowledge of how the cave worked.
They didn’t remember it. Lion-O took them to the cave and explained it. Why they could walk in and come out on their own at the right moment, I’m not entirely sure.
Except that Lion-O explained it to them so they probably understood not to go too deep into the cave.

It wasn’t just by summoning the Eye of Thundera. The Eye of Thundera hit the Mirror of Truth which revealed the ThunderCubs true identity as adult ThunderCats, and the Eye of Thundera through that mirror returned the Cubs to adults.

I like that I can watch the DVD’s on my computer because I had to rewatch a couple of those because I otherwise wouldn’t have remembered those details.

Also, soon after the Canyons of Youth turn them to ThunderCubs, Lion-O calls on the Sword of Omens to give them “the understanding of ThunderCats.” Up until then, all they wanted to do was run around and play Cheetara Says… with the Magic Flute, but once they gain that “understanding”, they’re suddenly able to focus on the task at hand, quickly learning how to pilot the Feliner. This “understanding”, then, might extend to knowing roughly when to exit the Cave of Time.
It could also be that, unlike Lion-O in “Time Switch” and Tygra in “Trouble with Time”, the five of them all enter the Cave together and can communicate to each other the aging that they’re witnessing, as opposed to just experiencing. It’s easier to know when to exit the Cave if the guy next to you says, “You look about medium rare. Time to go.”
Yes but, how did they know how they looked before being turned into kids again?
I doubt it, because after they gained the understanding of adult ThunderCats, they still didn’t know who Lion-O or the Thunderkittens were, so if they didn’t remember people, I doubt they would have remembered places. I think all the understanding did was the ability and willingness to follow Lion-O’s instructions which they were hesitant to do at first.
