EOT has to start over

This is a message for all the members of EOT (eyeofthundera.net) and anyone who just liked checking out the site from time to time.

If you had bookmarked this site and have tried to visit it only to see a 404 Not Found error message, the reason is a hacker got into our database and completely deleted it. We have no back up and nothing in which to build upon except our web domain and our hosting company, Blue Host.

With that being said, we are here to tell you that we are not giving up and we are not giving this hacker the satisfaction of seeing us just roll over and taking it! Lyonnarra and Omicron have been able to aquire a new forum board and the name EOT is still ours, meaning that if you Google Thundercats and Eye of Thundera pops up, you can click on that link and it will bring you to our new board.

Since we are starting from day one, that means that all of our members, if they wish to help us rebuild, must register with the new board and your post count must start from zero. I myself have a post count of just 1 until I can upload all my old fics and pics.

Please, we are asking all EOT members and anyone who loves Thundercats to please visit us at www.eyeofthundera.net and help us make EOT great again! Even if you don’t want to post and just want to see what is going on, we appreciate that, and my apologizes to the admin if I have put this in the wrong place.

Just a quick update. Lyonnarra was able to do a redirect so if you do happen to click on your old bookmark of the site, it will send you to the new one.

I want to thank all of you for your support and sympathay. It just goes to show how cool all Thundercat fans are! :thumbsup:

I’m sorry to hear what happened - I run a couple of Yahoo groups so am familiar with spammers :cheetaramad:

I had not been a member before so have just registered at the new site :slight_smile:

We’re not sure, but you’d be surprised why some people do things. And often hackers do what they do just so they can know that it can be done.

It’s usually because of:

A: Boredom (most script kiddies tend to do bad/stupid things out of sheer boredom)
B: Weak Security (if a site has an exploit, script kiddies will usually find it)

C: Notoriety (the more traffic a site has, the bigger the bragging right.
Of course, the trade off is; bigger usually means more secure, hence… less chance of a successful hack)

Just bad luck. The site ended up in the crosshairs of a bored scripty; looked to have weak security and well… the rest is history.
