Ebay steals and deals

Manny,

On the same note, eBay is a solid company and has been known to prosecute criminals to the full extent of the law. I still think it’s too soon to be jumping to any conclusions with this seller, but if she turns out to be a crook, at least there’s a sense of comfort that eBay will have the buyers’ backs. Also, buyers are able to cancel money orders (which is like putting a stop payment on a check) and recover their money - that’s one of the security features. If people are worried about this seller, I’d say try and get your money back now and report the matter to ebay.

It is a solid company no doubt, I’ve also heard of people going thru lots of headaches trying to get Ebay to pay up or help out in matters where the seller turns out to be a crook same thing goes with Paypal. As far as money orders go what if they cashed it in already, which in most cases if someone is trying to slander people out of money they will cash it in ASAP and disappear. Ebay is a very tough company to deal with and anyone that has been doing Ebay for years will say so. If i had my choice I wouldnt deal with Paypal but what can one do right? Dealing on Ebay is a risk itself. Headaches could be in a sense avoided by doing a little bit of homework thats all

I hear ya. I’ve been using eBay since 2000 and I have had a couple of problems out of the few hundred transactions that I’ve dealt with. In those cases, eBay has helped me get my money back. I would say that most people knew that there was a risk in dealing with the no feedback seller that only took money orders, but you know how it is when you want those figures…sometimes it gets the better of you.

Ebay will not do a thing unless there is a court order asking them for information. Ebay is not responsible at all as auctions are an agreement between the sellers and buyers. The user agreement that is agreed to when signing up makes ebay not responsible. Paypal will also not do anything if the seller has no money in their account. The only way Paypal gets involved is if the amounts are over that states minimum for it to be a felony. Even then they won’t do anything unless they are contacted with a court order.

As far as money orders are concerned you are right about doing a stop payment but the catch is the person has to have not cashed it. Odds are in this case this seller has already cashed the money orders. By the time someone realizes they are getting ripped off it is usually too late to do this.

The ONLY way you are ever fully protected is by paying with a credit card! If you don’t get the merchandise you can do a charge back and dispute the charge.

I think the problem with this sellers auctions were the fact that prices have shot up on MOC quality pieces. The pictures in those auctions were for nice condition pieces. I would have loved to bid on them but they were all date stamped over a year ago. It was all just too fishy. I really think people were just taking a shot because the prices were low and with 0 feedback they were bound to not get as many bids..

Patience is the key here…Everything will turn up on Ebay eventually so why even take the chance? You may even snatch up what you need at a decent price and with minimal risk of loosing your money. Why rely on Ebay to maybe and thats maybe get your money back

Ebay Auctions from Hollaback

Well guys, I guess we were all screwed by this new seller Hollaback. I am just sick. I have sent several emails and guess what, nothing! I have already filed claims with ebay and hopefully I will be reimburssed. Let me know if you guys hear anything. You can contact me at:

stacycollector1977@yahoo.com

Please let me know if anyone finds out any information. Thanks.

for anybody that got ripped off by hollaback. I went to the police about it the other day. They ended up calling her house and she told them that the items were sent out (mine at least). Hopefully this will rattle her cage and she will mail the items out. Im going to give her till monday before I file mail fraud charges (I have the number I just have to call them and get the paperwork). I recommend that everyone that got ripped off by her to do the same, hopefully if she has a few police men calling her she will send the items out, and file mail fraud charges. Other than that there really isnt much we can do besides sue her in civil court and that would cost as much as the figures. Hopefully the police influence helps her mail the items. any questions just pm me. Hope this helps and hope things work out for us, but I certainly have learned my lesson on bidding on newbies with no paypal

I hope your wins show up. This is becoming more and more the story about dealing online. The police only can do so much and usually they will not do a thing if it is not over your states law minimum for it to be a felony. Most states it is just a misdemeanor unless it is over $1200. Unfortunately these people are only taking $50 to $100 items. This is why you only hear about the big busts where people have taken over $100,000 worth of money. It is just happening so much for small amounts that police in some cities get hundreds of complaints a day.

You guys can contact me at Anthem@cox.net. Please keep me up-to-date on any information you can extract from this debacle. I hope that’s true - Matt. Similarly I feel ashamed about this and I bet so many other people do too. I definitely won’t let myself do that again and be so gullible.

Kris

Have any of you asked over at he-man.org if anyone won any of those auctions for the She-Ra stuff this seller was selling. They had like 15 She-Ra auctions going at the same time the Thundercats were up. I just looked over there and did not see any warnings or post about this seller. I figured the more people you join with the better chance you will get what you paid for or money back. I tried to run a search for the auctions but eBay has already removed them from being able to search under the user name. Just trying to help you guys.

This Hollaback person really knew their figures…I’m afraid…very afraid this person is very closely in knit with this community.

Ok what is really going on…Kriz shoot me a PM if there is something you know about this person so we can further check into it

Thanks starrcade89! I wonder if the “pumpyra” went for regular “Pumyra” price! I’m dying to get my hands on one MOC.

Great score on that Mummra and Ravage
