Talked to the seller and had a great conversation with him. He explained about the hammer’s and they are 100% legit and how he came across them (which I won’t get into details about, for his privacy sake)
So get them while you can, he only has a few left.
It could be someone with a stash of loose toys. Rather than list 10 of them at once, sell them 1 at a time, and get the maximum amount per item. That said, there is always the chance it is someone making reproduction pieces.
to be honest, i’ve seen this thing going on too. and if you compare the hammer here and other hammers, call me mad, but the texture and the colour of the plastic just does not look right. but then again, maybe it was just the country in which it was produced. if you look at what the guy / girl offers, they have a lot of other stock too, so they might have a stash as mcss aerocoupe said. i think the only way would be to actually buy it and compare it with others?
i wouldnt buy it imo, i’ve seen lots of loose accessories as of late and guess what… oh you mean there’s a few bengali hammers recently found? wow that’s so convenient for us and for them b/c it’s the most expensive… i’ve seen for a while some of the most expensive ones relisted and relisted as authentic by a couple sellers which doesnt seem believable to me. just like these people that have some ultra rare Tigersharks accessories for sale all the time and never have a figure to sell. so you have two dozen tigersharks accessory sets laying around and no figures? how awesome for you…
if it seems too good to be true it is, if you ever have to second guess something or may have a doubt you need to not buy it.
check ebay sometime and you’ll see some suspicious listings and then you’ll see them sell and be listed again… and then again…
@copperkid you hit the nail on the head. I’m someone who spends a good 3+ hours a day searching ebay for new thundercats listings. Trying to rebuild my collection takes commitment. With that said I know what sellers are dealers, what sellers have toy stores, who’s legit, who’s a fraud, and who’s just mom and pop trying to sell something.
You search on ebay long enough you get a feel, especially when your looking for the same items over and over. We all remember the fraud from NY a couple of years ago. His upclose pics and misspelled listings gave him away completely. You knew it was him no matter what name he created or what feedback he had.
Outside of Driller and Stinger, Ben Gali is the most sought after figure and the weapon is usually very hard to find. To have multiples of this weapon is like winning the lottery in my opinion. It’s like with the Pumyra repro weapon that’s all over ebay. I hate it, cause now you have no idea if your getting a repro or orig and it makes collecting that much harder. But these are obviously legit which I explained above.

Teddy (this ebay’s seller) is a very good friend to me and sometimes we are buying large lot of toys together and I keep what I need and same thing for him + we are reselling what we do not need.
Teddy si an old collector with an impressive Thundercats collection but he is what I am calling: a collector of the shadow (never shown publicly its collection).
The past months Teddy and me bought a large Ljn collection from a german collector with some pre-production items like moulds, test shots, catalogs and mass production toys from Gremlins, D&D, Photom toylines etc and some Thundercats items also.
Among these things we got an original mould of the Bengali’s hammer and coming with we got some samples + final production versions in a boxe (the samples are the slightly darker for the story).
It is why you are seeing some of these on eBay since 2 months now.
We already sold a large part of the hammers at some collectors and we have only few left again.
Later in the year, we are planing “maybe” to use the original mould to do an extra production but for the moment all the ones you see are vintage and original if I can reassure you
For the details, like I said the samples are the darker ones but all are sold out because we got only few of them and the rest on sale now are the regular production versions.
I cannot confirm for which country the hammers was to be manufactured because I have on total 3 different colors in my personal collection, probably the german market but I am not sure because nothing is writen on them.
This person actually hit me up on ebay offering to sell me on of the hammers off of ebay and sent me an invoice on paypal. i thought it seemed strange. I havent sent the money yet and even now I am still suspicious of this.
To me the hammers look very shiny and new to be Ljn factory made originals… I’d be very wary of buying a Bengali Hammer loose. Its best to buy a complete figure to be certain your getting the real deal. I’m glad I got mine when the collectors market wasn’t as crazy as it is now! :eek:
Having cast jaga myself to make myself a ghost of jaga it is easy do do. Anyone on here can knock up a hard resin copy of any figure or accessory for an outlay of £50-£100. The prototype of jaga listed looks to be casted the same as mine comes out. The torso is one piece and the arms and legs have no pins or sockets. Bengalis hammer is even easier to cast, I’ve made two hammers to go with my extra figures. As far as I know there are only two shades of genuine hammer, a lighter and a darker blue. They will always have a very slight gentle flex to the hammer handle but can still snap whereas usually resin recasts are hard, brittle and with no flex. The plastic on a genuine hammer should feel slightly softer. Also the weights are different. My resin casts feel lighter. However good people are creating repros or knock offs it always easy to spot an original. Also the eBay sellers name panaceacreations should give him away. His name suggests he’s manufacturing something.

she worked for ljn as a freelance sculpter in the 80’s, I was able to contact a few sculpters on the ljn line through her and get my friend 2 Grune prototypes.
The stuff she gets are left over sculpts from ljn or freelance model makers.
Most of the stuff was throw away parts or left over weapons, decals, springs and parts. She does have the tallent to cast these things but if you notice, most are cast from the original prototype, not figure!
Well I never said thats what shes doing, i said she “has the talent” to do so.
I dont know if she has the molds either, but i do know she has legitimate contacts and worked as a freelancer for many model making companies including ljn, i know this first hand, this is how my friend got in touch with 2 guys wjo worked on the line called Rick Hughes and Bert Brooks.
She wouldnt be the first person to sell off bits and bobs accumulated over the years.
The only way to tell for sure is by having history of the item!
