Donated model sheet image(s) - did anyone save these? :)

Hi all,

I’m sure I must be getting on everybody’s nerves by now - although hey, at least this isn’t about the Comic Section!

I was just scrolling through some old threads on the Cartoon & Comics Board, and rediscovered this thread here: http://www.catslair.net/forums/showthread.php?t=119 , as well as this one: http://www.catslair.net/forums/showthread.php?t=128. I’m devastated to learn that this guy declined our request to help out, as (like our very own Mark, a.k.a. Grizzlor) this guy has some truly gorgeous pieces of cartoon production material!

I am pleased to say, however, that he did offer us the donation of two pieces, namely these:

…I was just wondering whether anybody had saved these? And, whether it is still OK to use them? And, whether anybody would be up for the job of seeing if we can persuade this guy (and/or also board member Matt who apparently also has a lot of this type of material too) to change his mind and donate some more?

Like I said, I know you guys will be sick of me by now - I’m just on something of a TCL.Org kick!

Take care, and speak to you all soon!

All that would be cool. Someone is needed to take the cartoon section in hand though. In my opinion it needs content that’s similar to the toy section content. I mean there are many possibilities for articles such as comparing Exodus (movie) to Exodus (DVD version) and Ho! The movie to Ho! parts 1-5. Celesta also had ideas for intros.

But until someone steps up, sadly this kind of content won’t be displayed anytime soon :frowning:

But back to the point, that is definately the kind of stuff site visitors come to see, so I’d love to see it displayed on the site for certain.

Chris here…

As far as the Cartoon Section is concerned, I see no harm in saying that I’ve discussed the issue afresh with MannyC, and whilst nothing has been set in stone we’ve spoken seriously about the possibility of Kyle & I taking over managing the content for that section if no one else on the team has any objections. As he’s been on holiday, Kyle has no idea about any of this yet! So, he may feel that with his work on the Encyclopedia (which, let’s face it, is a major part of the Cartoon Section itself) he has enough on his plate, in which case it may come down to just me! gulp!

I have spoken to MannyC about my potential time constraints and he does understand that if I were to take on heading up the Cartoon Section as well, the amount of material coming into the Comic Section would probably suffer as a result. But, I feel (and I think MannyC agrees) that the Cartoon Section is actually a more important area than the Comics, because I feel more people would be likely to come here for info about the cartoon or toys rather than the comics. Part of the reason I’m pushing myself so hard at the moment to collate and create Comic Section material is in case the Cartoon Section ends up falling partly or wholly to me!

Cool, well, in that case - let’s use it! LOL!

Take care…

No I have no problem with that at all. It does make sense since your both working on the Encyclopedia. If nothing much gets done, then what does get added to that section is still better than adding nothing at all.

The reason I can’t help with it is because I have a feeling I’m gonna be heading up the Merchandise section and I know that is enough for me to do. Ideally I’d like to start setting up that section late autumn/early winter. We need to finish up the supplementary articles (Cardbacks, Mail-away offers etc) and make a start of the Variations section first though. Once the variations has been kick started we can update that periodically. I’d like to open it with the variation pages for Lion-o, Tygra, Cheetara and Panthro completed.

Personally I think it’s a good idea to get content added into every section so all main areas are started off.

and finally I’d love to see the Site History page written up detailing all the goings on, starting from the thread on He-man.org

Hopefully once everyone is back and settled, we can have a team meeting to set all this stuff in stone

Chris here…

Very true, and I would also add that there’s a lot of material kicking around that just needs collating together - for example, every episode’s page in the episode guide IMO needs images (screenshots, videograbs, whatever you want to call them). In the course of the past year, I’ve been aware of Manny, Celesta, MannyC and Kyle all having (or gathering) images from the cartoons (either from VHS copies or from the DVDs) for use on the site, with very few of these actually making it to the finished product. Really what that needs is for someone to make a “To do” list like Kyle’s for the Encyclopedia, and then for people to shout out what they have, or just work through the list.

That’s just one example - thanks to Celesta, MannyC and Andrew (?), we also have the official Rankin-Bass synopsies and morals for episodes 1 - 90 (the first 65 of which I believe have been used on the site, with #'s 66 - 90 still to be added), and more stuff besides! With Kyle, Martin, Celesta and (latterly) myself working on the Encyclopedia material, and with Kyle combing the episodes for character/vehicle/place/etc. appearances, suddenly the rest of the Cartoon Section looks a whole lot more manageable!

I agree, I think the worst thing is for people to come here and find no material at all in a particular section. No need to apologise about the lack of Cartoon Section involvement, Neil, there’s no doubt in my mind that you’ve got enough of a workload already - the only thing I (or whoever ends up heading the Cartoon Section) could do with are those UK airdates you managed to obtain. You may remember you posted those up on our old board, which I no longer have a link to (assuming it’s even still up!), that’s something else we have access to that’s never been properly utilised!

Ditto! I looked for that thread to show it to Kyle, but sadly it’s been deleted - if only I’d saved it! I feel that for someone to accurately write up the history of this site (which, BTW, is a job I’d enjoy!), it would be worth referring to that thread. Of course, we’d now need to be careful what we said, i.e. given how there’s been ructions with Purrsia and EOT.Net, it might be unwise to say that we felt the Internet lacked a really good ThunderCats site!

Well, as far as the Cartoon Section is concerned, I’ll have to look again at my PMs and confirm this, but I believe MannyC said that if Kyle was cool with the idea, and if nobody else had any objections, then we’d be good to go for Kyle & I heading up the cartoons side of things. I definitely think it would be good to get a decision made about this soon, as at the moment I seem to have the most free time I’ve had for about two years, and I know that this will change soon so I want to “strike whilst the iron’s hot”!

Take care…

I am quite friendly with the guy who owns some of the content you’ve posted here… I can get images of most of this from him, but he doesn’t have a decent scanner unfortunately…

Chris here…

Hey Mark, welcome back!! Did you get my e-mail response safely?

I’m sure I speak for all of the guys on the team when I say that, as ever, we would heartily welcome any input you’d be able to provide in this area. I don’t know if you have Skype, but like I said in my e-mail, please feel free to hit me up on there any time we’re both on!

Take care…

Mark where have you been??!! lol!

It’s good to see you back though! are you back full time now? Please say you are! (by the way if you wanna catch up I’m logged into Skype now)
