Do You Like the Overall New Character Designs?

I originally voted that I wasn’t sure/need more time to look them over. Well, I’ve had time to look at them and for the most part I really do like them. And just to be clear, I am keeping this solely on designs. I have a few issues with the animation side, and I really don’t like the new backstory so far, but just wanted to make sure no one thinks I am contradicting myself here.

Anything not mentioned either I haven’t noticed, or is not a major point for me.

Likes:

Of the four main characters, they all have the emblem in the same location as the original. That is a nice nod to the original in itself.

Lion-O’s outfit reminds me of Claudus’ outfit in the original, while having small hints of Lion-O’s original (shoulder straps, belt design).

Tygra’s outfit has a criss-cross thing going on that hints at the original as well as having no sleeve on one side with a short sleeve on the other.

Cheetara’s outfit doesn’t immediately resemble the original, but it does keep the swimsuit/workout design theme.

Panthro’s spikes. What else needs to be said?

Claudus’ outfit looks like an armored version of the new Lion-O outfit, which looks a lot like the original Claudus. It also seems to imply the royal bloodline/family has a trademark clothing style.

Jaga’s helmet is the only part that makes him instantly recognizable.

Grune has his signature single saber tooth.

Dislikes:

Lion-O: Nothing.

Tygra: That green MOTU Man-At-Arms inspired suit of armor.

Cheetara: The super sized wrist and ankle bracelets.

Panthro: Big, thick sideburns! Plus goofy scars.

Claudus: The half mustache and double eyebrows (only slight annoyances)

Jaga: Just looks too old and feeble. I just can’t picture him being a great warrior “back in the day”. He looks like an old librarian to me.

Grune: Helmet looks too much like Jaga’s. Also, don’t like how he only has one saber tooth. I always wanted to see how he lost the other tooth.

Maybe it’s just because I love it when a man can wear a uniform well, but Tygra’s green outfit is really growing on me.

Still having issues with Panthro’s hair.

Hah. I agree I really like the green too. It makes more sense then the blue outfits all together. And Olive Green and black and brow are GREAT colors for a Tiger seeing well they go good with Orange.

I like Lion-O’s redesign the most. It just seems to be the most sensible without straying too far.

Tygra “civilian” outfit looks like a good update of his old one, so I wonder why they decided to give him the armor too.

I don’t mind Panthro’s mutton chops, but they didn’t have to make him that massive if they wanted to make him look like the strong man of the team.

I agree about Cheetara’s bracelets. I have no idea how she can wield her bo staff with those things on. I kind of don’t like her shorts either. Otherwise, everything is fine.

The Kittens’ designs are as good as Lion-O’s. They’re very true to the original. I’m not so sure about the tails or Kit baring her midriff, but I’ll see before I make a final judgment.

Snarf looks a lot cuter. I like it.

Jaga does look older, but I think he might be hiding some muscle under his cloak. I like his beard. His outfit looks pretty close to the original.

Grune looks good. His beard may be new, but it still looks like his old hair. As for the amor, it’s the most different, but I like it.
