I saw this one a few weeks ago or so, and I thought it was pretty good. Well not that they’re the greatest actors or anything but they made a huge effort and paid attention to a lot of details so I definitely appreciate their work

that was ****ty. Thundercats should be a cartoon, and may no mere man try and make a real life or live action version. It started as a cartoon, and i hope that will remain sacred.

I actually agree that live-action ThunderCats wouldn’t work - whereas some comic book-style properties actually translate well to the live-action big screen, generally speaking this is because the main characters are primarily human - if you look at something like X-Men, most of the characters actually look like regular people, just stylised and/or wearing costumes. Whereas, for ThunderCats, almost the entire cast would be part-human, part-animal, and whilst if you look at something like Lord of the Rings it probably could be done, it would be something very challenging to pull off convincingly.
Fortunately, WB’s forthcoming ThunderCats movie is planned to be CGI-animated (so, in effect, a modern day cartoon), so at the very least that element is preserved. How faithful (or not) it is to the source material remains to be seen, but I feel rather more optimistic than had it been live-action!

I remember seeing that awhile back… It was pretty good for a fan-film. Makes you wonder about the possiblities of a live action film with a good budget and studio-backed production staff.
I saw this too. Granted, it’s a fan-made trailer done on a shoe-string budget, but you can see they put their hearts into it and that it was a sincere effort. And it’s enjoyable as well.
This is annoying to me. Should Xmen have remained just a cartoon? Spiderman? Batman? etc, etc, etc. Transferring something to another medium, even if they have to change it slightly to work in that other medium, as they had to with the Xmen’s costumes, and would have to do with the Thundercats to some extent(that is, if they change from CGI to live-action, as I hope they do), has a clear history of enhancing that subject matter…regardless of how much the so-called purists want things to stay the same, things evolve…and that’s not always a bad thing.
Furthermore, to kill two birds with one stone, regarding the person below who mentions something about the Thundercats being half-human, half-animal: with the possible exception of panthro, the Thundercats were portrayed in the cartoons as probably 90% humanoid with 10% feline qualities.
Well said Shepherd. While I am a TC purist a live action movie if done properly with the right company, people, etc could prove to be most entertaining and possibly awesome…just as long as it doesn’t turn out like that Dragonball Evolution crap.
