Hello everybody, If you have not been informed yet, I have just joined your team here at Thundercats Lair. I am 18 years old from the UK and have grown up with Thundercats. I am an art student with passion for painting, illustrating, animation and web design.
As posted, I was interested in producing a comprehensive Thundercats Bible/Encyclopedia. I have begun to log every character, creature, vehicle and location, with the intention of producing some sort of unique illustrated guide, which will not be matched.
I was going to start build my own website to feature this project, when I stumbled upon your site. I think the site has real potential and already at this early stage has an effective simplistic style.
So now I am on board, I have every intention of maintaining and enhancing the site. Any feedback or suggestions in the direction of my input and proposed Bible/Encyclopedia project would be fantastic.
Welcome aboard Kyle, I think i speak on behalf of evryone that we are looking forward in seeing the fantastic project you have set out to do not only that but all the ideas you can bring to TCL. Again welcome aboard.
Welcome to the team behind the ThunderCats Lair, Kyle - as soon as Manny relayed your e-mail, I felt that you were exactly the sort of guy we need on our team! Without realising it you’ve begun work on an area of the site that has been planned for months, and I think you’ve a lot to offer to this project!

I look forward to seeing your work for the site, it sounds like you have big ideas for the Encyclopedia Project, which as Chris mentioned, is something we ourselves had in mind but havent got around to getting done yet
I just thought that it would be best I provide a brief explanation of my plan, so that you would be able to see what I had in mind and therefore be able to provide input.
Basically I want to produce a guide to everything you see when you watch Thundercats, as I have never come accross one before. I want to take every character, creature, vehicle, weapon, and location and put them all in one place for viewers of our site to see.
I am planning to catergorize these in the following way
Good Characters
Thundercats
Thunderians
Third Earth
Other Planets
Evil Characters
Mumm-Ra + Disguises/Forms
Mutants
Lunatacs
Third Earth
Thunderians
Others Planets
Creatures/Objects
Third Earth
Thundera
New Thundera
Other Planets
Good Vehicles
Thundercats
(other good characters with vehicles)
Evil Vehicles
Mutants
Lunatacs
(other evil characters with vehicles)
Locations
Third earth
Thundera
New Thundera
(other planets)
I hope to produce a page per character/vehicle/location etc.. with a hand drawn and computer rendered image (which will avoid any copyright). This basic layout will then allow all of our team to contribute information in the form of profiles, descriptions, histories etc..
I am aware how large this project is because I have spent a month gathering all of this information and have only reached episode 65, and already have a 6 page database of information and 10 MB of screen captures.
To avoid a sustained period of time without this online, I aim to produce the basics of each section ( for example - The main characters Thundercats, Mumm-Ra, Mutants and Lunatacs and their related items). This could then go up as an update. Then as I work my way through the rest of the Thundercats Universe I could gradually build the Bible.
Doing it this way will provide the site with updates on a regular basis (giving insentive for more frequent visits to the site). If everything is ok so far I will do a sample page to show you more clearly how I visualise this all looking.

Sounds like you’ve put a lot of thought into the section there Kyle
I particularly like the supposed structure you’ve developed, and I’m sure the information you’ve amassed will help make this a great addition to the site. One thing I will mention is that I’ve been working on extensive Character Bios for the site for a while now, that are just reaching completion, which cover everything that character goes through in the cartoon
And again I’m impressed with the way you’re approaching this, Kyle - basically you’re doing exactly what all of us had envisioned for that section, just with 50% of the groundwork already done!
The one thing you haven’t mentioned that I’d always hoped would be featured in the Universe Guide/Encyclopedia/Bible is a complete list of every appearance for each character/vehicle/object/etc. for each entry. (Does this make sense?) Do you have plans to incorporate that into the guide?
Also, the other thing I notice is that you haven’t got a section (or subsection) for locations on individual planets - do you plan to have, for example, The Mountains of the Moon (located on New Thundera) with its own entry or just being mentioned in New Thundera’s entry? I’m sure you’ve got all this stuff covered, I’m just being curious!
And, yes please, I for one would love to see a sample page! Exciting stuff!!
Yes you are correct, my catergories listed are sections. So withing (Locations) there will be (Third Earth) Then within that there will be (Darkside) for example with its own section.
To answer the other question, each character will have a blank profile for information to be added into. If each appearence in each episode is required I, or another member will have to go through each episode, as I have only recorded each item/character etc..'s (First appearence). But as I say, this can be contributed to each characters profile at a later date (as with martin’s already developing character profiles).

That all sounds fine to me, and the thing I’m most pleased about is that it sounds like your work and Martin’s will mesh together extremely well. I can’t overstate how excited I now am about this section!
Thats good, I can’t wait to actually begin illustrating it and showing you guys what its all going to look like. I will hang back for a few days and allow the other members to provide feed back and then, all being well, begin work on a sample page.
Sounds fine to me, although in the meanwhile I’m sure we’d all love to see some of your artwork if you have any ThunderCats sketches or suchlike already completed - I love seeing artistic interpretations of the ThunderCats anyway, getting a glimpse at what the illustrations for the bible will look like makes it even more exciting!
As of yet my Thundercat art is quite minimal, hence my thirst for this project. But you can see the quality of my work on my website. I also have some thundercat paintings in mind to spice up the Fan art section of the board.
