Actually I’ve just remembered one thing that I didn’t list above but which definitely isn’t crap. I’ve brought down all of my lego collection, except for the Visionaries characters and vehicles I made back in 2002. I’ll bring them down carefully at some point, maybe tomorrow. There’s a few other bits and bobs too - a calendar for instance!
I am looking forward to seeing them. 
I seen some custom Lego Defenders Of The Earth figures once. If you Google it they should be easily found. Oddly enough I had the Lego Marvel Super Heroes game for a while and thought I could maybe make them as custom characters but the character create mode was awful, no where near as good as the one in the previous Star Wars games.

Just watched the next two episodes of DotE on my continuity list: “The Lost Jewels Of Tibet” and “The Revenge Of Astra” - and have decided that the latter must come earlier, probably better to put it next after “The Mind Warriors”. There’s so much that says it’s a really early one, most notably Flash and Dynak’s banter at the start of the episode, where it’s clear that the computer’s personality is his (late) wife, an interesting avenue that was sadly never explored further. Actually, “sadly” is a word that can apply a lot to this episode, it had a lot of potential, but it didn’t really live up to it.
So, to the initial continuity guide, amend:
- The Revenge Of Astra (DVD#9, was 12 in my initial order)
- Root Of Evil (DVD#6, was 7)
- The Lost Jewels Of Tibet (DVD#13, was 11)
Astra and Roots should both be early episodes so where you have them seems okay. Same with Jewel of Tibet.
Part of the problem is there’s the initial six I’ve set up, and then three or four other episodes that need to be pretty early as I’ve outlined but very little to dictate a precise order.
I think the thing with “Root Of Evil” (singular) is that we see the different animation, assume it’s the first one animated, and think, “oh, it needs to come as early as possible” - but in actual fact, there’s not really anything continuity-wise that really demands this.
Maybe Roots…would be best left out of the continuity.
Or possibly put directly after Street Smarts - in “Root Of Evil”, Flash is taking Morlag home, I’m sure in “Street Smarts” he’s bringing him to earth.
Ah, good idea.
I’ll have to see - after all, they have pretty much the same fight with Ming’s ships around the moon in both episodes. I’ll let you know when I get to “Street Smarts”!
Well the chancres of the same fight taking place aren’t that hard to believe. It is against mindless robots after all. If it worked once it should work again. 
Look at any typical episode of Voltron. Every episode I seen had them defeat the bad guy of the week the same way with a big slash from the Blazing Sword.
Maybe you’re right. After all, this problem exists in Thundercats as well (the catchphrase became a fix-all in the end) and many other shows besides.
The scene with Flash & Morlag manoeuvring around the moon is pretty early on in both episodes (in “Root Of Evil” it’s the first scene involving any of the Defenders at all).
Galaxy Rangers was an exception to those kind of shows. It’s well worth a watch if you haven’t seen it. It was one of only a few select shows that was created with no intention of selling toys. Although they did make toys (Galoob who also made DOTE) for it but they only had a very small release here in Europe. The line was also very small consisting of 6 figures, 3-4 horses and some accessory pack. Oh an some role-play child size lazer guns. I seen prototypes of the planned second series but sadly they were never made.
That’s not one I’ve seen. I’ve heard about it, I’ve even heard tell that it has stronger continuity than the average 80s cartoon!
The show that (to the best of my knowledge) really changed everything in terms of American action cartoons was The Legend Of Prince Valiant in 1991 - that really wasn’t toy driven. There was no toyline, the whole thing was character/story driven, and had proper long-term story arcs.
It also boasted a very impressive cast:
Valiant - Robby Benson (Beast from Beauty And The Beast)
Arn - Michael Horton (I recognised him in an episode of Voyager, but it turned out to be his voice rather than his face that rang a bell, he was also in a couple of the Trek films)
Rowanne - Noelle North (Cubby from Gummi Bears)
Merlin - Alan Oppenheimer (Skeletor et al)
Arthur - Efrem Zimbalist Jr (I also saw him in B5 as a businessman, he died just recently)
Guinevere - Samantha Eggar (Picard’s sister-in-law in TNG)
Gawain - Tim Curry (the original Bill Nighy when it comes to scene-stealing)
Bryant - James Avery (Shredder)
Valiant’s father - Peter Renaday (Mandrake, Splinter)
Duncan Draconarius - Neil Ross (Leoric in Visionaries, Overlord/Tank/Bandit in Spiral Zone)
Robert Draconarius - Rob Paulsen (Raphael)
And plenty more besides; Michael York had a small part in a couple of episodes, also Wil Weaton, and William “Ming” Callaway. And others that I can’t think of.
It’s a pity there wasn’t a toyline for Valiant. I would definitely have bought them. For some reason when I was young really wanted a figure of a knight in armour. Although being the early 90’s they would have made a few normal figures in the first series, probably not bothered with Rowanne, then the following series of figures would have been neon coloured with large firing missile accessories then been cancelled LOL.

I found a videotape in a charity shop back in 2007, and lapped it up. First time round I was so caught up in the nostalgia, second time I recognised some voices. Mainly Neil Ross as Duncan in episode 3. This was before I found the DotE vid, so I didn’t recognise Peter Renaday at this point! I grabbed the series off of youtube in 2011. Would still get a DVD if it came out over here!

He appeared in 12 episodes. The best being the pilot ‘The Murder of Sherlock Holmes’ and a personal favourite ‘Crossed Up’.
He was Jessica’s Nephew who she and her Husband Frank raised.

You should check and see if Prince Valiant is available in the States on Region 1 if you really want it. It’s pretty easy to get an unlock code to make a regular DVD player play them. Also they are pretty cheap on EBay and Amazon. Although I do know what you mean it would be better having them on Region 2. I have a Sony multi-region DVD player but to be honest I rarely use it anymore as I have limited plug space and can’t be bothered keeping switching plugs for it and my PS3. It’s one of the main reasons I sold my Region 1 DOTE box set and a couple other R1 cartoons. The PS3 gets a lot of use playing DVDs and downloaded films. I still play games on it now and them as well.
I just check IMDB and Valiant has an amazing voice cast.

Sounds like the same tape I found - Arn was introduced in episode 2, and Rowanne (and her parents, and Duncan and Robert Draconarius) in episode 3.
Speaking of Rowanne’s parents, that reminds me, another voice I forgot to mention before - her mother was voiced by DotE’s own Diane Pershing! (Dynak X)
I forget who voiced her father. Oh, and Valiant’s father’s master-at-arms, Rolf, was voiced by Dan Gilvezan (Dirk Courage in Spiral Zone is what I know him as, but apparently he was also in Transformers).

Interesting. How old would you have been when you started watching it? Those three years’ difference between us might be quite a major difference in our perception of the show.
Knightmare is widely regarded as a legitimate candidate for the title “greatest kids’ show of all time” - an impossible absolute to award in practise, but no shortlist worth its salt would be complete without certain names, and this is one of those names.
If, however, you started watching it in about 1990 - then yes, I can see why the appeal would be missing, as that series (4 of 8) was the slowest series on record, with all those eye-shield sequences slowing down the action. The eye-shield was a new gimmick in that fourth series, it stayed with the show to the end after that. It was the first change for the worse in that show.
Lorne Lester (Rick Gordon) is in it. Even Sean Astin (Sam from Lord of the Rings).
Yes, that’s the tape I had although I got it in the mid 90’s.
I was definitely 4 or 5 when I seen Knightmare for the first time. I recall being over the street at my Cousin’s house and it came on and the music and the guy with the sword on horse back charging toward the castle just immediately caught my attention, as I liked Thundercats and He-Man and various programmes with knights and swords etc so I was all excited for a new cartoon. But then the programme started and it wasn’t a cartoon and I was quite disappointed. What I did see of it on TV never really captured my interest so I gave up on it.
Although I have caught a couple repeats on Challenge and they were quite enjoyable.
