As a test, and just because I’d never looked at them, I had a go at downloading the three “Exodus” videoclips we have uploaded on the site - they’re the first three files on the Downloads page:
Unfortunately, when I’ve tried to play all three of these back, my Windows Media player tells me that the files are “corrupted” - the first one won’t play at all, and the other two freeze-up part of the way through. Interestingly, when I try and download these files, I am told that they are each approximately 4MB in size (as opposed to what they should be, which is between 11MB - 17MB), and that’s all that will download for me (even when I try and re-download them). This looks like it could be part of the problem.
I’m just wondering if this is happening to anybody else, or whether it’s my system/set-up that is at fault?
I’ve checked those three files, and those now seem to work great! I’ve also checked out the two 100 Greatest Cartoons clips and they both seem to work perfectly too!
The MOV (Quicktime) clips won’t open for me at all, my Windows Media Player tells me that “Windows cannot open this file” and that it “needs to know what program created it”, but I suspect that this is a limitation of my media player rather than a problem.
The bad news is, I’ve checked all the commercial bumpers (1980s, not Toonami - those I can’t check because of the Quicktime) and several of those seemingly don’t work correctly either - although they all download from beginning to end, playback on them is often quite jerky, one of them is missing the audio, and at the end of each my Windows Media Player flashes up a message (and this is a copy-and-paste) “Windows Media Player encountered an unknown error.” Again, is this me or is it happening to anybody else?
Only one file should have no sound. Forum member Mumm-Ra donated those files to us. On my computer, they all seem to work fine with the exception of bumper #2 which has no sound.
In that case, I will say that it’s probably just my system then - thanks for letting me know about that, Manny!
BTW, just as an interesting factoid - the “Exodus movie” clips, including the “lost intro”, are actually able to be identified as being from the UK home video release! Just for fun, does anyone else here know how you can tell?
