Well, I was killing some time at work and started googling Thundercats search terms and stumbled upon something pretty cool. I found some screen shots of what appeared to be Lion-O in a 2D Street Fighter II style game. I searched further and found the website containing the files needed to play.
I went through all the leg work of figuring out this “Mugen” game and hopefully using my instructions below, you all can play it as well.
“Mugen” is a basic little program for playing 2D fighter games. People can then create characters, or “Chars” as they are known, to play with inside of the game. Someone created a “Char” of Lion-o and its pretty cool.
[COLOR=“RoyalBlue”]Note: I tried tracking down the author of the site or creator of the Lion-o char, but was unsuccessful. They are created for public use though.
Here is what you have to do to play:
First go to this site and download the first file. http://unofficial-winmugen.jpn.org/
Next create a folder in windows called “Mugen”. Now open the Zip file you just downloaded and extract the files into the Mugen folder, but make sure you have “Use folder names” checked to ensure that all the directories are created correctly.
Ok, so now we have Mugen installed. If you want, double click the Winmugen.exe file so you can play the game and test it out. The path should be “C:\Mugen\No_limit_Winmugen_patch”.
Alright, time to add Lion-o. Go to this website: http://grandmenagerie.fortunecity.com/mugenize/liono.html and download all three of the files at the very bottom. The Lion-o.SFF, .CMD and .SND files.
Now, create a folder called “Thundercats” inside of the “C:\Mugen\No_limit_Winmugen_patch\chars”.
So the path will be “C:\Mugen\No_limit_Winmugen_patch\chars\Thundercats”.
Next, unzip all three of the files we just downloaded into this Thundercats folder.
(Were almost there). Lastly, go into the “Data” folder found under “C:\Mugen\No_limit_Winmugen_patch\data” and open the file “Select.def”. Once in here, scroll down to where you see the line that reads “Insert your character below”. Under “kfm, stages/kfm.def” add the line “Thundercats/liono.def”
Now, go back to the “C:\Mugen\No_limit_Winmugen_patch” folder and double click Winmugen.exe. If you did everything right, you should see Lion-o in the character select screen.
So far I know that Z and X are for punching, and A and S are for kicking. You can do special moves like in the Street Fighter 2 games as well.
