Awesome stuff, but I do hope this doesn’t mean there’s a bad fate for the artbook. I know Dan had said he was going to wait on submitting art from the show in the hopes of having an artbook.
I don’t know. I actually expect the artbook to cover many aspects of the pre-production process besides character concept work which seems to be what he does. And considering he designed alot of the many characters, I wouldn’t be surprised if some where left over for the possible artbook.
Or maybe most of the concept work they’ll show is from Takahiro Tanaka since he did the final looks of everyone. shrugs who knows. You’re right though in that they’d include more than just character concepts. They’d have backgrounds and vehicles and weapons and everything else under the sun.
How did you come to that conclusion? He probably just changed his mind. For what reasons? Maybe wanted to be nice to us fans as we have gotten nothing for quite a while.
This in no way shows that the artbook is doomed.
This is a direct quote from Dan in the comments on his DA page:
“Now that T-Cats is out, I may post some things. But we are planning an artbook. So if it comes out, it will be in the book, if not… I’m gonna go hog wild and post the hell out of it here. Hope you like the rest of the T-Cats series bud!”
Granted he did say he may post some things, but that comment was from back in August. He’s had plenty of time to post things.
Anyway I’m not saying for sure that there won’t be a book. I said I hope it doesn’t mean there isn’t a book. But I do believe I have credible reasons for believing it might not happen now.
I really hope there is an artbook as well.

P.S. apparently this really doesn’t mean bad news for the Art Book. Dan said he has Thousands of drawings from the show and that’s not even including work from all the other artists involved. He just wanted to get some hype up because he know people are becoming discouraged about no news about the show.

I always enjoy looking at the art behind a show. It’s always fun to look at some of the ideas even if they don’t make it into the final result.

I like the new version of Monkian (sp?)…not a huge transition, I dont think they needed to change him too much. Jackalman looks great too. The otter guy is pretty cool looking! All in all, all the characters and their updated looks are very good! Even the voices of the new charachters are great!
I know some people dont like Cheetaras new look, I personally do. I can see why they dont like it, esp since the top 4 charachters re-design were very different. She does have a lot of cleavage, lol. Maybe too much, they look like they are going to fall out :eek: at any moment. But the brothers re-design look very realistic and I like how tall and not so boxy they look. Very updated. The OS characters were typical 80s style, all pumped up on steroids. LOL! But the OS cheetara, maybe because of the way women were in the movies at the time, and in TV shows…like wonderwoman, etc…they all were very covered up…very modest…I never liked how they looked.
Aside from the expoding bust…i like the new look!:cheetara:
If they bring back vultureman, i hope they make him talk faster…LOL! in the OS, i was getting a bit frustrated when he would start talking on screen, because it seemed like he was always in slow motion. Not my favorite villian. But only for that silly reason of mine :rolleyes:
Hey- it would be nice if they introduced NEW charachters in this NS! Is the otter a new charachter?
My guess is that that’s the re-design of the Tuska race? (as in turmaggar the tuska). Though I must admit I would have placed them more on the Walrus side considering their huge tusks and bulk so maybe this pic is unrelated.
Otto is an Otter. That’s a mustache, not tusks. He was a character that was originally meant for episode 11, but they couldn’t fit him in so they didn’t use him. However if you look closely at the villagers in the Swordsman village from episode 8 you can see him in the background.

I don’t know about his story, but one tidbit I did get out of Dan was that “bar” under his belt is the hilt for a magical weapon made of water that could cut like a sword or be used like a whip.
I kinda hope he’ll be able to be included somewhere down the road. I really like his design.

Why would they take an old character and change him so much that he’s a completely different species with a different name and look?
Their focus on redesigning OS characters from the start has been keeping them recognizable. Even the Driller, who was changed pretty drastically, was instantly recognizable.
LMAO! Even funnier (to me, anyway) in the DVD set…season 1, when you go to episode selection…they show her crossing her arms in front of her, while holding her staff…ALMOST as if to squeeze those puppies together on purpose! LOL! its so obvious!

but its pretty funny! You might like that. 
Im just a hot young chick that loves the NS thundercats (favorite is Tygra- drools), im not jealous by any means. I just get a kick out of the cleavage spilling out of the tops in these shows, :rolleyes:
They give me the hot, hard bodied tygra (and Lion-O)…so i guess its only FAIR.
