Hi guys,

As a challenge to myself (and because I was bored), I decided to have a go at working in HTML tables - a while back Kyle explained to how they work, and impressively for me it only took about four months to sink in! I’m improving with age!! :slight_smile:

As I’ve been working MannyF very hard, I decided to give him a bit of a breather and try and get the commercial bumpers we had hosted on the old version of the site back up-and-running - and this is the result:

Just for comparison, this is what the old page looked like (although bear in mind that this page features some clips that I shall be hosting elsewhere in the Cartoon Section, with their own pages):

I have to say I’m really pleased with how this has come out, and if nobody objects I plan to make this part of a pre-Christmas update for this site, along with Martin’s “About the Writers” article and some new pages for the Episode Guide that MannyF and I are working on, plus whatever else I can get completed between now and then! :slight_smile:

However! There is one problem. Of the video clips hosted on this site (a.k.a. in this site’s archived Cartoon Section), unfortunately several of them are “corrupted” and thus don’t play properly - I remember a long time ago, when we were still using the original version of this site, drawing MannyF’s attention to some corrupted video files on the Downloads page, which he did in fact correct. However, it seems that some slipped through the net! :frowning:

The files that are corrupted are:

  • All the original commercial bumpers (they play fine, but at the end give me an error message in Windows Media Player)
  • Toonami spotlights Cheetara
  • Heroes segment
  • ThunderCats leaving Toonami #2

I’ve checked Toonami Digital Arsenal and unfortunately they don’t have those clips available to re-download - I’ve left them online just in case they work better for somebody else, but nonetheless I’d love to try and find versions of these files that work correctly for me, because if they’ll function OK on my comparatively unsophisticated computer equipment they should then work for everybody else! :slight_smile:

this is awesome Chris.. Glad the HTML stuff is falling in to place for you. I don’t really know that much about the clips but hopefully we will be able to get them sorted..

Re: the page I’ve built, did it display OK for you on your Mac? It looks OK to me but I know in the past your Mac has been able to expose weaknesses in my HTML coding, so if you could LMK how it works for you that would be awesome - many thanks! :slight_smile:

Yeh Chris, it passed the Mac Test, and you will be happy to know that there is now 3rd test… It passes the iPhone test too…(even though the iPhone is essentially a small mac lol..

Awesome news - now I can delete the 53 versions of this page that exist prior to this finalised version (whenever changing something on an HTML page I’m building I always save it under a new name)! :slight_smile:

Hope you’re enjoying the iPhone - I’m loving the adverts for them on the TV, one day I shall have to have one! :wink:

UPDATE! Also, in my ongoing quest to get as many of the old video clips online as possible, I’ve now built a page showcasing the famous “lost intro” from the TCats pilot/home video movie version of “Exodus”! :slight_smile:

Again, if everyone’s happy with this, what I shall do is make this “live” on the site as part of a pre-Christmas update - and, you’ll be pleased to know that the video file for this one seems to work perfectly! :slight_smile:

Just to LYK that I’ve recently been chatting with Angie (Purrsia), who told me that she’d spoken to someone who had tried to access these files (it would seem specifically the classic series commercial bumpers) but was unable to make them work. This person actually asked Angie if she could host them on her site until we got them fixed!! :?

IMO this is worth looking into - it would seem that it’s not just me that some of these files are corrupted for. Please could this be looked into as a matter of urgency? :slight_smile:

For her own part, Angie is going to pass TCL’s contact details along to this fan for him to try and speak to us directly - I don’t know if he’ll contact me directly or whether he’ll use feedback@thundercatslair.org or something similar, so just thought I’d give you guys a heads-up. :slight_smile:
