Basically, I’m doing my college creative project on Thundercats in my Radio course. It’s going to cover Thundercats - the creation and legacy that it’s left and impact on society (including being one of the first cartoons to use Japanese animation in the United States, later paving the way for cartoons like Dragonball Z to make their mark). I wanted to interview several people who worked on the show but, also, I’d like to interview it’s fans. Get a firsthand experience of, being a fellow fan, what it was like to be a fan of the show. Favourite episodes, worst, outtakes thoughts… whatever you’d like.

Re: interviews - apologies for the delay in getting back to you, things are crazy busy at my end! I conducted the interview last night via Skype - overall, a fantastic interview save some really annoying echoing on my part which has come out in the recording which means it’s going to take a while for me to sort out (and I’m not sure how to).
After much editing, the Larry Kenney interview is complete. It’s a really great interview which delivers much insight into his background in Radio, his time on Thundercats, controversial outtakes and including a little piece of information inside regarding Larry Kenney in the new movie. Great job interviewing Larry, Nick. You definitely know how to conduct a great interview. Seeing as though Larry’s been interviewed many times, getting some new info from the interview is awesome.
Thank you very much. It was an absolute pleasure to interview Larry - growing up with Thundercats, it was something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I had wanted to interview Larry for my radio show - but that fell through. So this was another oppurtunity I couldn’t miss.. he was very funny and insightful about Thundercats and his background. One of the best times I’ve had and he was a fantastic interviewee.
I also conducted an interview with Kimberly Morris, writer of several episodes in Thundercats, and that too was an excellent interview in which she gave me alot of insight. My documentary, “Feel The Roar: Thundercats - Creation and Impact” is done. However, I have two versions. One is the completed version and the documentary I handed in today - unfortunately, I had to cut several things from my longer version which I was none too pleased about. The other is thirty minutes long which is very long for a documentary which is why I cut it - but I was forced to cut it down to 20 minutes. So I’m waiting for various feedback before I decide which one to post here. Bear with me, folks. I hope you enjoy the interviews.

The documentary is 25 minutes and consists of several topics including the beginning, favourite characters, outtakes, the movie (which features a somewhat small interesting piece of information about a possible Larry Kenney involvement in the movie), writing an episode and the legacy including much more. I’ll also put the two full interviews with Larry and Kimberly on here for you to enjoy. They are really worth it.

Glad to know you had a good interview with Kimberly Morris - although it’s a while since I’ve spoken to her, based on the e-mails we’ve swapped in the past, Kim is one of the sweetest ladies in the world, and I really envy you getting to interview her for your project!

My documentary was aired on the college radio station - which was why the deadline was so fast. However, I didn’t expect the reaction which was absolutely positive with the people introducing it liking it and discussing it with a girl in my class who wanted to know more about it and stuff. My lecturer had nothing negative to say about it, either, so I’m real pleased. But it’s you guys that matter - so do please listen and leave comments, however positive or negative. I don’t care - as long as it’s there.
Hey Nick, finally got to hear everything you’ve uploaded yesterday and it completely rocked! Loved the way you put the documentary together, and how you edited my lengthy comments - always a wise move!
Joking aside, I thought you did a fantastically professional job for which you should be very proud! Two minor constructive observations would be, in the list of ThunderCats I believe you omitted to mention Snarf (maybe that was deliberate, LOL!), and also the show finished in 1988, not 1989! Aside from those very minor points, that was a dead-on perfect piece, congratulations!
Great to hear what Kimberly Morris actually sounds like, I love where, in the full interview, she actually starts asking you questions about yourself, etc. Based on the couple of e-mails I’ve swapped with her that is very characteristic, I’ve always found her to be very personable, friendly, and full of great and clearly-explained info!
I forgot to actually include Snarf - the official explanation which I can get away with is that, technically, Snarf isn’t really a ‘Thundercat’. He’s a Snarf - which is a species. The rest of them are human (aka ‘Thundercats’) which is a species, but Snarf is more of an assistant to the Thundercats, a nursemaid.
No, that’s all rubbish. Fact is, I wrote the script at 2am and was so knackered that I forgot to include him - which was a huge error on my part because I actually like Snarf. I knew that someone would catch it someday and they did - thanks, Chris. But the show actually ended the first run of transmission in 1989 - yeah, it ended production in 1988. But I think around then, they were deciding whether to end the series or keep it going. So I used ‘1989’. That is actually true, as ridiculous as it does sound.
But many thanks - I loved doing the documentary and it felt good to get that out. I’ll never stop being a fan of Thundercats - it’s just in my blood. And yes, she was a great interview. I’m really glad you enjoyed them
Snarf might not be a born ThunderCat, but he’s clearly an honorary one. If he wasn’t, I don’t think he would have been chosen to be baby Lion-O’s nursemaid.
Actually, I also posted here because, on the subject of Snarf being a Thundercat, I was watching one of the season 2 episodes Thundercats Part IV and there’s a scene where the ThunderCubs (Thundercat children, basically, being made young again by a trick of MummRa or something) are trying to get away. Snarf demands to be let off to help Lion-O and is resisted by being told that the Thundercats have to get away - in response, he says “I don’t have to do what he says - I’m not a Thundercat”.
In response to his comment, Spidera pokes Snarf in the belly and says, “Thunderfood!”
