I felt like asking this. I’ve noticed many members here are veterans to the hobby, and how they’ve organized and displayed their collections has left an impression on me.
I consider myself rather new to it, despite having numerous big collections.
I’m also asking because of small frustrations I’ve come across with mine.
Dust is my main problem. How do you overcome this? I assume having pets adds to this, even if kept away.
Displayed, I keep 90% of mine on work aluminium shelves (they’re the cheapest and most decent I’ve come across). Any other shelve alternatives? Glass casings?
Protecting MIB Figure Cards and boxes. Is there a place where one can buy protectors of specific sizes? Anyone come across a decent priced alternative?

At first I found using some cases made for carded hot wheels worked well but they fit only several figures. I found a local store that had tons of collectible cases and now use 18’ Die-cast car cases that are perfectly square and clear all around to protect the nicer part of my collection. They stand up nicely in an Ikea Billy case. For some larger items I’ve used AFA syle cases that are able to take a figure inside.
I went to a liquidation for a store that had gone out of business. That’s where I got my main display case. I think I paid $300. for it about 15 years ago. But of course that price will vary since it was a store liquidation and being that long ago.
As for my other treasures, I have them in various curio cabinets and book cases with glass doors. I keep my eye open for good ones at yard sales for reasonable prices.
I do not have them yet, but i will be buying 3-5 of these cabinets to display my collection. I figure i can get two graded figures per shelf, so 8 per case.

I own a few carded Hot Wheels, happy to know cases for them can be an option.
I’ve taken notice of the AFA style cases. But since I can only order those online they sometimes escape me.
This is something I’ve been told from time to time, keeping an eye out for store liquidation and yard sales.
And 15 years? If you’re still using it then you got a good deal out of it!
That’s actually a pretty awesome option, and can work for making some figure to look more decorative in say a living room and it’s not as wide as the usual shelves I use, so I think it can fit in the extra free space left by the shelves.
I keep my collection in a glass display case and I might have to dust once a month if even. Usually once every two months. I also recommend keeping your MOC toys flat as opposed to standing up right or leaning against the back of the display. The reason for this is that gravity and time will eventually start to pull on the bubble. I actually have a very nice new display case for sale. It has 4 glass shelves not pictured. Well, “still” using it is a technicality. For the first 13-14 years it was on my parents enclosed porch just sitting under a plastic drop cloth. When I got a permanent place of my own I brought it over and have been using it for about a year and a half now.
