Wilycub and I were talking about the VHS and book packs recently and I just thought I would ask if you had any of them as I would love to see the set mint on sealed card. Good luck on your search.

If you ever come across it, please let me know because I would love to see that mint on card as well. Even loose.

This is what the case looks like.

Here is the He-Man tape that also came with the colouring book.

Other shows like Danger Mouse, Dogtanian and Thomas the Tank Engine were released in the ‘Watch and Play’ video packs.

What I wouldnt have done for those audio books as a child (and now :))

right! having them as a kid must have been great. I must admit, i am nervous to try to play to tapes that I have for the different audio books due to their age. One day maybe.

Thank you for the awesome pics. I remember me and my cousin getting the activity packs in Poundstrecthers in the UK. My cousin also had The Evil Chaser book.
Here are pics of the He-man book.

I have the He-Man tape but it is packed away with the rest of the VHS collection.

Having the both of them, the VHS and the coloring book, is such a great little set. I can’t imagine too many of those coloring books have survived over the years. Mint or probably harder to find loose. In all my collecting and research over the years, i have never seen the coloring pages. I would imagine the He-man one is just as hard to find. That great items!

Yeah have the book and tape of He-Man. I still have the Thundercats tape but I cannot find book. I assume it got mixed in with the piles of comics that I gave away a few years ago.
I have a Danger Mouse On The Orient Express VHS of the same series.
Believe it or not I still had the smaller colouring book from the activity set in your pics also up until a couple years ago. As I recall my Mum and Dad bought me a couple of those activity sets when I was younger.

Thats awesome. I have often wanted to grab another one of the activity sets just to open it to check out the items inside.

I am not 100% but I believe the discolorations on the hands, neck, and ears of this Hachiman are due to rot. I have seen a few of these and not sure the what the cause would be. The argument could be made that it is just wear on the hands, yes but that doesn’t explain the ears or neck. Does anyone know if the discolorations on the Hachiman on the right are rot?? If not rot than what is going on?? Would love more info…

Keep a look out on eBay UK they usually can still be bought there now and again for around £10 or less.

T

hats odd. I would have thought that the ears and face would age in the same way.

right? its strange

I am pretty sure the ears are painted like the hands. The paint aside from chipping, collects dirt, grease and dust off hands over time. The only rot I ever experience though with my figures was the brown mould spots over the figures.
Also a lot of mine were deteriorating that all the plastic felt very soft and sticky.

I am familiar with the brown spotting but neither Hachiman nor the 2 Monkians have any brown spots, just very strange discolorations. The Monkians, i definitely believe to be suffering from plastic rot. The Hachiman I am not 100% on. It very well might be plastic rot, but it almost seems more paint related. Unless the plastic is causing the issues with the paint?? I’m open to theories…

Great books.

thanks, Daremonger
