Blanket e-mail to all of us - did anyone reply to this? :)

Hi all,

About a week ago, MannyC forwarded an e-mail to me that had been sent to all of us, but that I hadn’t received due to the error on the Team page that lists my e-mail as chris@thundercatslair.org, where it should be he-fan@thundercatslair.org. The e-mail was from a guy called Joe Blackwell, who apparently is the Executive Producer and host of a radio show called “B.R.A.T.S.”, a.k.a. “Blackwell’s Radio Animation Talk Show”. I haven’t replied to it myself, I just wondered whether anybody from this site had? :slight_smile:

Here’s the e-mail:

I just want to say that I enjoy your website and appreciate the effort that
has gone into putting this together.

I do have a couple of quick questions:

I have heard that the next and last DVD release of the Thundercats will not
be released until December 2006. Is there are a reason why it would take
that long.

As you all know, many people have been disappointed with Warner Video’s
efforts in releasing the Thunderctas to DVD; missing title cards, extremely
low audio, limited and boring extras (with the exception of the cats
interviews), bad video copy, distorted video quality, especailly on the
first episode in volume one, and an edited version of Exodus. There really
isn’t any excuse especially when He-Man came out with superior sound and
video quality and no major errors at a cost that is almost half of what
Warner Video charged for the Thundercats.

Do you think they will go all out on this last DVD release being that it
concludes the show? I personally doubt it, but I figured since it will
take a while for them to release Season Two, Volume Two, they might have
something big going on. I want more interviews with the cats (cast) that
was not featured in Season One, Volume Two.

I really believe that in four to ten years, the Thundercats will be
re-released on HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD with everything as how fans wanted.
That way people may but it twice. (Just my idea).

Oh, the idea for a new Thundercats TV show with a monkey as Lion-o’s pet is
something I hope NEVER happens. I don’t think there should be a “new”
Thundercats cartoon. What would be cool though is if the cartoon continues
where the original one left off. I know it has been twenty-years, but
think of all the things that could be written as to what happened during
all those years. This could open a lot of new storylines, characters, and
flashbacks rather than re-create a whole new show with new villians like
what happen to He-Man, which was unsuccessful.

Please let me know what your ideas are and thanks for any other information
you may have to share.

Hmmm, that’s strange - in your opinion, is this guy a “nuisance e-mailer” if he keeps sending variations on the same e-mail every time? I must admit, apart from acknowledging the work we’ve put into the site, I found his e-mail slightly pointless, given that we’ve got no insider knowledge to share (unless he doesn’t realise that). Perhaps you could LMK your thoughts? :slight_smile:

I do find it a little annoying, but I’m always excited to hear from fans who visit the site.

I do know that the last two emails he sent were in regards to the poor quality of the DVDs. I think he acknowledges that since we seem to be a fairly reputable site, that telling us (or complaining to us ;)) may help to increase the quality of the sets. Of course, that’s not going to happen, but it’s nice to think we do…:slight_smile:

I don’t mind his emails…he brings up valid points and I enjoy reading the mail we get from the site.

Fair enough - in that case, maybe I’ll reply to him, what I was anxious about was getting in touch with someone who might be a problem, but based on your comments I think I’ll respond to him. :slight_smile:

I replied to his email.

To me, most of his questions (especially the DVD quality) were addressed on the forums, so I politely asked him to consider joining up to the forums to discuss the points/questions he had posed.

I mean how do you answer a question like why is the quality so bad? I mean, I bet WB themselves wouldn’t actually answer that either.

So yeah, thought the best reply would be to try to find answers on our forums as most of the other stuff would be based on speculation, like the release date of the final boxset for example.
