anyway this to me was the best of the first season eps and to me it was still average
cant we stop stealing from other shows like heman 2000 like when we saw liono get armor for his claw

however i will say i liked that we finally got to see those useless elephants do something besides just acting stupid with wilykit as there leader

i got to say i still cant stand tygra cause even though he does seem to tell claudous bout liono he still has a serious issue and he can defenitly seem to me like someone who can still be part of the dark side of the force ala anakin from star wars.

the action was good w good w panthro though but again not another variant :mad:

finally the love connection between cheetarah and liono that should of happend in the original series doesnt look like it will happen again because this time tygra gets the nod unless in the future she disses tygra and goes for liono.

Forgot to say this: one more thing I liked about this episode: the kittens, even when their part was kinda small.

Wilykit is showig a more “spiritual” side, she’s tender and caring, but also brave.

Wilykat also showed bravery and loyalty, and proved his mind is not only set in finding that lost city as it seemed in the last episode. Yes, you can argue he might have tried to defend the portal because he needs all the TCs alive to fulfill his plans, but the way he said he was defending it sounded like loyalty to me.

What I didn’t like is that the episode seemed -in parts- a mix of every movie out there. I’ve already mentioned LotR, but there was some SW as well, and even Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone: the brothers and the bad guy looking for the stone, but it was the one who wanted it to defeat evil and not the ones that wanted it ofr themselves who found it.

And also, Grune taking his tooth to nail it in Spidera’s eyes also made me think of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets when he fought the basilisk.

And the complete last scene was like SW RotJ when they celebrated the fall of the Empire at the Ewok village. Even the Cheetara/Tygra scene was like Leia and Han’s, when Hank thought she had picked Luke.

And have ypu noticed? Unlike the OS where all TCs had red eyes, Lion-o’s here are blue, a color usually related to goodness and purity, while Tygra’s are red, a color related to evil (like the lase sables in SW).

On this we completely agree. All surface and no depth to the entire first season plot lines because there is too much fighting over back story, character development, etc..

Even when I agree in that there could have beem more of that, it’s not like there was nothing of it. It’s just that it has been very subtle so far.

Like Anet said, you’ve got to see the whole picture :wink: If you let yourself get trapped in all the fights and stuff, you won’t see the characters’ development -for all the TCs- the show has showed.

I think the thing is, unlike OS were they already knew each other, here, besides Lion-o and Tygra, they don’t, or have had small interactions (Cheetara and Tygra); and even Lion-o and Tygra, being brothers, knew almost nothing about each other. That makes things slower because people have to get to know others and feel comfortable around them to reveal and expose themselves and start sharing and bonding… their whole world was destroyed, they lost family and friends, it’s natural to think they’re kinda paranoid and reserved and etc.

But we’ve seen Lion-o growing on the knowledge of the sword and the understandment of the world in general (ok, maybe this was the easiest one as we’ve seen Lion-o growth in almost every ep).

We now know where Tygra comes from (in part); he’s insecure and jealous, but kind and loyal and able to tell when he’s wrong and scared.

We know that Cheetara keeps her feelings to herself (maybe even more than Tygra himself), but we’ve learned that she’s patient, persistent, supportive, caring and loyal.

Panthro lives in a conflict towards his old friend, and he’s able to sacrifice everything in behalf of the world’s sake. He’s grumpy, but emotive as a kid.

And what about the twins? We know they miss their mother. We know Kit is kinda emotive and spiritual, looks for a family and maybe world peace. And Kat is brave and loyal and caring to his sister, but might have his own agenda in finding that city of Eldara.

Yes, it hasn’t been much, maybe not even enough, but it’s ot like there wasn’t any at all. I agree in that I’d have liked to see more character’s growth and development, see interactions between the other TCs besides Lion-o, but maybe, maybe (I’m getting hopeful as 3 eps ago I was thinking/feeling the same way you arel right now) the 2nd part of this season will focus on that.

I really hope they don’t introduce Pumyra, Lynx-o and Bengali soon, because I want the original gang to have some time to get to know each other and bond before the others get introduced. That will only bring more characters, thus less time for everyone.

It will be exciting to see Lynx-o again, considering he is supposed to know Pantrho from earlier. There might be an interesting relationship to explore.

I see a lot of people blaming Cheetara for “leading Lion-O on…” but to me leading someone on requires that the “leader” is fully aware of the feelings the other person has. Lion-O never told Cheetara his feelings.

It would be different had he bought her all kinds of gifts, sent her flowers, etc. and in turn she kissed him, rested her boobs against his back, etc. THAT - in my opinion - would have been leading him on because she would have known that he had some kind of interest in her… but SHE NEVER KNEW ABOUT HIS FEELINGS!! I’m pretty sure if she knew, there would be no kissing or close encounters involving breasts (LOL). She would most likely respectfully distance herself as to not hurt his feelings.

I think the only person led on in this case was the audience. And I applaud the writer’s for doing so (it makes things more interesting expecting different outcomes rather than anticipating every move).

Regarding the betrayal - I’m sure Lion-O does feel betrayed at this point. He had just told Tygra (in the Astral Plane) how he felt about Cheetara and then he sees her kissing him. He has no idea that Cheetara CHOSE Tygra… He may think that Tygra walked over to her and planted one on her!

I would feel betrayed by my brother, too, had I just told him I was interested in a girl and then I see them making out later in the day… We’d probably end up on Jerry Springer (LOL).

Wow well I am a bit late to this party and I must say everything I feel like commenting on has been done and pretty much resolved. So I will just put this out there This is most certainly not the OS. I like they are taking things in a new direction. Showing actual Relationships and consequences.

I did have one thought about Panthro loosing his arms and this is for those kids out there that have brothers or family in the military that have come home with a missing limbs or other injuries. I think this will help those kids and quite frankly those military fan identify more with real life and what can happen in war. After all if Panthro can overcome this injury… Perhaps they can as well.

Bravo!!!

P.S. I am stil hoping for a new Thundercat as a possible love interest for Lion-O. Perhaps a Grace Jones like Panther???

I actually was hooting and celebrating out loud when Tygra and Cheetara happened, it’s about 25 years over due lol.

Was a bit gutted Tygra didn’t get the spirit stone for his Bolowhip but cest la vu!

Awesome fight scene between Tygra and Lion-O but was worried about the darkness in Tygra for a bit then…stwpid astral plane! :wink:

Panthro/grune fight was a bit lacking I thought, especially when it was fists only I thought Panthro could have broken out his martia arts (tho have the clerics pinched that in the NS?)

Panthro’s missing arms is an interesting twist! A really good way to demonstrate sacrifice, but if was a hardcore Panthro fan i’d be ****ed!lol.

So annoyed that that’s apparantly classes as an entire 1st season now tho…dumb ass companies :frowning:

But Tygra also told Lion-o how he felt about Cheetara, he even yelled “You took the crown! You took her!” Lion-o should have known then that Tygra loved Cheetara.

And even more, it was Lion-o himself who set the whole thing as a competition. If the guy equals “losing” to “being betrayed”, then he has a lot to learn. What did he expect? Tygra making his feelings asidee? Not fair.

Don’t worry, Grune will more than likely return as a ghost to bedevil the Cats. That’s how it was in the OS, so expect it to be the same here. You can’t keep a good bad guy down for long. :wink:

Now that Tygra has the girl, I hope they put him in the back seat and keep him there. I’m tired of him going “YOU DON’T DESERVE THAT”, “THAT SHOULD BE MINE”, “I’M BETTER THAN YOU” every ****ing episode. Let Lion-O be LION-O and put Tygra and his incessant *****ing in his place.

Beautiful ending to the first season! Things went pretty much as I expected between Lion-O and Tygra in the Astral Plane, and their fight scene was excellent. As were the battle sequences between the Cats and the Lizard army, and between Panthro and Grune. WilyKat taking up that unweldy big gun and shooting it at the mecha, only to have kick-back knock off his feet and into the lizard trio sneaking up on him from behind, was hilarious. So was WilyKit’s scenes of meditating with the Elephant People, and her shouting “ThunderCats, ho!” while joining them in their attack on Slythe and his army was a delight. Go, Kit! :smiley:

It was great to finally learn how Grune lost his one saber tooth by using it to kill Spydera. And, yes, that scene of him and Panthro in Spydera’s lair was straight out of Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. Shelob, Frodo and Samwise, anyone? :wink:

Interesting that they have the Astral Plane being held together by the Spirit Stone, and then being destroyed when the stone is removed. It was also interesting that Grune as well as Panthro’s arms were destroyed along with it, and to be honest, I’m not upset about it. Doubtless, Grune will return as a vengeful ghost summoned by Mumm-Ra. And I hear that Panthro will receive a set of prosthetic arms, arms that will very likely be much more powerful than his original ones, so there’s really nothing to worry about. :slight_smile:

Yep, Tygra got the girl, and I’m glad he did. I still believe Lion-O wasn’t meant to have Cheetara, and there’s a reason. Since he’s now the king, his future love interest – and future queen consort – will come when he’s more mature and has some more under experience his belt, and I think she’s going to be a member of the Lion clan (remember, only the Lions can inherit the Thunderian throne, unless Lion-O plans to change that rule or Tygra dies at the end of the series so Lion-O ends up getting Cheetara anyway). :wink:

As for the first season of ThunderCats being only 13 episodes long, many first-season shows run only 13 episodes, so it’s nothing new. :slight_smile:

Yeah, bener really though much of Lion-O and Cheetara as a couple, saw more of a brother/sister relationship between the two. Hopefully Mandora makes an appearance soon as Lion-O’s future lady.

Aside from this arc and episode 4…there hadn’t been a ton of time spent on this. It’s called continuity; and compared to the OS, it’s refreshing to see.
