ok here’s the way I see it.

mumm-ra disguised as cheetara kissing tygra? nope. not unless they want to seriously creep out the kids watching.

anyway the main reason I believe tygra/cheetara is for the best is because cheetara isn’t going anywhere. lion-o is still learning to be a better king and if he stays focused on cheetara he’s going to be less focused on fulfilling his destiny. I’m sure he’ll probably be emo about it for a few episodes, but ultimately he’ll get over her and be all the better for it. lion-o is the leader. if they got together I think he’d eventually become hesitant to put her in danger and to win he has to be able to use everyone on the team to their best advantage.

I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of Mumm-Ra having the disguise of a woman, and possibly of Cheetara. I know it’s pure speculation and simply that, unless writer’s throw a curveball.

BUT Mumm-Ra is no stranger to taking on the form of a woman, he has done so on several occasions in his Original Series incarnation. To rule out that capability in his New Series incarnation remains to be seen. And for a kids show, especially in the 80’s, the writer’s didn’t hold their punches at that time with having a gender-bending illusionist.

I do too. Though i can see why he’d be mad. And i don’t like the teacher/like-a-sister thing. My sister doesn’t get up close and personal with me when i have issues. That’d be creepy.

And don’t forget we’re getting all of that from Lion-O’s perspective. Nearly anything she did with him could’ve been construed as romantic. Don’t you remember that feeling with crushes when you were younger? Everything they did, or said to you was a ~sign~.
Maybe Cheetara is a flirty person, did you hear the way she spoke to Tygra in the flashback? Maybe the moral is ‘Don’t flirt with folks when you don’t have a romantic interest in them.’
But I have kissed my adopted bros (even my close guys friends who I consider as bros) on the cheek before, I’ve squeezed them in hugs too, and sometimes hindsight says ‘hey, that could be construed as not entirely platonic.’ Oh well. What are you gonna do, go back in time?
I could see Cheetara eventually apologizing for giving him the wrong impression, especially since it was one that Tygra even shared.

I’m Torn

I was team Lion-O/Cheetara but I could see that Tygra deserves a break. Although it would be interesting to see if Tygra aggressiveness and jealousy continues on and Cheetara getting some of it and turning to Lion-O.

Hey but there is still team Pumyra/Lion-O but then again there is that look-a-like (Tygra) Bengali in the way… darn it.

As for Panthro and his arms, felt so sad. Whats worse is that if he gets metal arms he will not only remind me of Jaxx of Mortal Kombat but also Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop… on second thought even the voice stirs some memories.

Unless the writers going to make Lion-O feeling really devastated (like they showed him in the cliffhanger ending) and Cheetara sees it, that it is really hurting Lion-O’s feelings, because she supports him 100%.

Or Tygra will let go cheetara, because he love his brother and sees that she is good for him and the kingdom and he needed her more than he does. At the end of the episode he didn’d mind if Cheetara choose Lion-O after all. If this is the case then I think tygra will have to leave the group for a while and leave a letter to Lion-O and cheetara explaining all that.

Of course it is not going to be a quick process, it will take time. Anything could happen, the writers are in control of everything after all, they are all just puppets for their puppet master to play them. Just my two cents.

But what about Cheetara’s feelings? She’s not an object that can be passed along to the guy who needs her most. Im kind of in love with you for this. Cheetara chose Tygra and its kind weird that this is suddenly starting to sound like a game of musical chairs with cheetara being the very last chair everyone
is scrambling to sit on. Yeah the build up could have been better but it is what it is and she chose Tygra and I dont believe shes going to be trading him in when she needs an upgrade or stepping aside when they are both clearly ready to try being a couple. And I the only one out there who could forgive the shaky build up and accept the triangle resolution? I just took it as a cartoon thats gonna have some holes when youve only got 22 mins a week to tell a story.

Oookay a LOT of holes but still I try to enjoy it in a simpler way in simpler moments (the show isnt just for us adults sadly, otherwise there would be some shirtless Tygra for me!) Its hard making sure kids and adults arent bored sometimes things get simplified or left out in favor of soemthing more interesting.

That seemed like a likely outcome? I’ve never seen a theory gain momentum like this with absolutely no evidence to support it.

If Mumm-Ra wanted to take the form of Cheetara why wouldn’t he just walk up to Lion-O and stab him in the heart? The villain wanting to kiss one of the heroes makes more sense than that?

If they were to do something like this then every moment Mumm-Ra isn’t on screen himself is up for speculation as to whether or not all the characters on screen are genuine. The shock of that plot twist is not worth the fanbase questioning whether or not Mumm-Ra is impersonating someone at any given moment.

I swear people are never satisfied. first everyone say she’s being treated as an object for the brothers to win. and now that they can’t accept who won everyone is treating her like an object that can be traded at will. Tygra got her. Lion-O didn’t. and wasn’t a spell or a disguised mummy or an evil twin or brain washing or a fembot or any other silly thing that happened. she just chose her guy.

Im somewhat disappointed of theis turnout becouse iv’e never wathced the OS so all that matters to me was the current storyline and they could have represented Tygra and cheetara in a better way then that:sneaky:.

as for her being under a spell, i doubt a magical spell put on her by Mumm-Ra would cause her to suddenly have a piece of a 10 year old flower hidden away. she kept it because she actually did have feelings for Tygra all this time, and for whatever reason chose not to display or act on those feelings

as for her actually being Mumm-Ra in disguise, i go back to the flower. that isnt something Mumm-Ra could have known about, as mind reading doesnt appear to be one of his abilities (especially considering if he could read minds, he should have used it in battle to save his butt)

On the subject of guys getting a kick of girls why do you think that is Huh? Because guy’s instinctively will try to impress girls they like or think is attractive in order to gain a more intimate relationship (guys don’t have a friend-zone so to speakl well atleast not I). So if what your saying is true then she must have known he liked her and used that to her advantage (Evil Bi¤!"ch!) what would you call that: Intentionally leading him on;)

Hey all. Sorry I haven’t been around much lately. I’ve been pretty busy the past couple weeks what with work, exams and all. I know I missed commenting on last week’s ep, but I wanted to share my own thoughts on this, the season finale, and the entire firsrt season as a whole. I’ve read through the previous comments, and feel like I have enough to weigh-in with my own two cents.

First, on the episode itself: it was a hell of an ep IMO. As I expected, it advanced the series in some significant ways. I was a little disappointed they chose to end it where they did. I guess I was expecting something a little more epic. But the series is still in its infancy right now, so I guess this would have been as good a place as any.

I see I’m not the only one who thought “THIS IS SPARTA!!!” when Tygra kicked Lion-O into the pit. I can only guess that the 300 reference was intentional considering how almost identical it looked to that scene. The Silence of the Lambs, though? Not sure (Great demotivational posters, BTW, Lynxana!:))

I know there are those Tygra fans that have been crying foul at this iteration of the character. But after having watched this episode and the confrontation between him and Lion-O and how it played-out, I have to say that I really appreciated the new dimension the writers brought to him for this show. I felt the new Tygra, by making him bitter and resentful of Lion-O, added some much needed-depth to his character as opposed to his OS counterpart, which I’ve said before was the blandest character in the series. And those feelings got validated here as all of that came to a head.

Also I’m not the only one who thought of MK’s Jax when Panthro lost his arms. So it looks like I can’t make any reference to that. However, I guess you could call it a…

At least he’s getting arms back eventually. I can’t see Panthro doing Venus de Milo impersonations for the rest of the series.

It’s interesting, I can’t remember another series in recent memory where a character got maimed so significantly like this. The closest would be when Col. Tigh lost his eye in BSG.

Well, it’s official. Let the shipping begin!

Personally, I’m pretty satisfied with this. If she chose Lion-O, somehow it would have felt obvious. Lion-O is arguably the most powerful individual on Third Earth next to Mumm-Ra right now. Does he have to get the girl, too? (I have a feeling, though, that Pumyra just might end up being his romantic interest when she’s introduced). I’m with those who believe Cheetara did what she did with Lion-O in order to give him the emotional support when he needed it. But there were subtle hints along the way if you looked for them (like in “Berbils” and “The Forest of Magi-Oar”) that a relationship with Tygra was in the offing.

The elephants’ rising up and joining the fight was pretty cool. And it also reminded me of an old joke:

Q: Why is an elephant’s foot its sex organ?

A: Because if it steps on you, you’re f***d!

BTW, it’s interesting how a lot of my other favorite shows this week have made some big reveals, events or advancements: On Terra Nova, we got a lot of information on who the Sixers were, what their plan was, and the reasons for Col. Taylor’s being somewhat secretive. Sons of Anarchy killed off a MAJOR character (meaning Ron Perlman’s out of a regular-paying gig. sniff) And on American Horror Story, we learned the identity of the ghost in the gimp suit who knocked-up Vivien. And now there’s this. (Note: I haven’t seen the mid-season finale of The Walking Dead yet, but I’m sure there’s going to be a bombshell dropped in that one, too.)

Now that the first season is over with, I can only say that my feelings on this new ThunderCats are the same as when I saw the pilot, and the season finale has not only confirmed, but also reinforced them. When this show began, I said that this was what I had always wanted the OS to be: an epic show with a progressive story where the characters developed and grew. These last few episodes exceeded my expectations. Had the writers tried to do anything like this on the OS, like maiming significant characters or giving them romantic relationships, those ideas would have been rejected on the spot. The OS, for a variety of reasons, played it safe for the kiddies. Not so much here, and I’m glad for it. It isn’t afraid to get dark when it needs to be, and I like that.

Again, I keep wanting to compare this reboot to the new Battlestar Galactica in terms of how it took its approach to the basic premise and how it changed - in some cases radically - certain aspects of the original. But where I was eventually turned-off by the BSG reboot - ultimately preferring the original series - I’m wholeheartedly embracing the new ThunderCats. I can respect those who prefer the OS, but considering how much more mature and intelligent this new series is, I don’t know why they’d want to.

So to sum up; this first season pretty much delivered on the promise of the pilot, which I can’t say the same for of the OS. It was a good inaugural season, and I hope there will be many more!

it was stated before they even entered the Astral Plane that it would bring make their thoughts into reality. Mumm-Ra didnt recreate the childhood memory, the Astral Plane did that on its own, as that is the stated nature of the place.

all Mumm-Ra did, as far as i can tell, is increase the negative energy of the place to the point where Lion-O and Tygra broke out into a full out fight
