Just thought I’d pass along this e-mail I received:
I’m going to e-mail him asking for more info on how this would work, but this all sounds promising, and great that we’re getting this type of recognition from an official arm of MTV!
Do any of you guys have any knowledge of the way MTV Comics / MTV Geek works with Val and He-Man.Org? I’ll post up any further info I get on this front, but in the meantime do any of you guys have any thoughts / comments on this?
EDIT/UPDATE: Here’s my response to Tom about this:
Hi Tom,
Many thanks for your e-mail - great to hear from you! I remember you from He-Man.Org, had no idea about your connection to MTV Comics and MTV Geek though!
I’m definitely interested to hear about the potential for cross-promotion between the sites you’re involved in and ThunderCats Lair, these are always worthwhile things to explore. Could you give me an example of how this potentially would work, and how and in what sort of ways you guys and Val have worked together in the past? Then I can have a chat with the others on the TCL team about this and see what they think. Many thanks!
Thanks for your kind comments about the site redesign - it took a lot of work, but we’re all pretty pleased with it! There’s still a ton of content that’s currently offline whilst we transfer from the old site to the new though, but with the new series stuff being announced, we just felt we couldn’t wait any longer to make the switch!!
Anyway, if you could get back to me re: the above that would be great, and again, I very much appreciate you getting in touch about this - take care for now, Tom, and hope to speak again soon!
WOW! That is so cool that he contacted you and I agree this is exciting stuff. I’m loving the fact that we are both getting contacts since the relaunch! It’s also cool that he contacted you as it makes it easier if we share the admin duties in this regard
I definately look forward to hearing what Tom’s suggestions are! Congrats Chris on getting this contact
LOL, well, it kind-of came to me, I didn’t have to do anything for it! Nevertheless, I was really pleased when it turned up in my e-mail inbox, the fact that a web-based branch of MTV are actually coming to us is pretty special and gave me a real buzz!
I definitely agree Neil that it’s great if you & I are able to share the admin duties, and the fact that we’re in such close and regular contact makes it pretty easy too, both in terms of sharing info and also (thinking ahead) covering each other if one or the other gets snowed under - I think everything is working out really well!
Yeah! I remember a few weeks ago we were emailing back and forth at stupid o’clock in the morning! If that ain’t regular contact then I don’t know what is! To be on the ball and in sync with your fellow team members communication is the key!
I completely agree, and when you have that open channel of communication I find it just breeds energy for a project, which is always good!
Oh and BTW, you have e-mail, LOL!!
Take care…
Merged Post: UPDATE:
Had a response from Tom - looks promising, would welcome the thoughts of the rest of the team!
Any comments or thoughts, gang? My own feelings are that we could easily make this work to our advantage extremely well, and my own instincts are to run with this.
Just an update on this, things are going well in the early stages of working with MTV Comics / Geek website, Tom Akel is very interested in working with this site to our mutual benefit.
Tom is currently compiling an article about the new ThunderCats trailer, and wants to include some fan reactions to it - he’s asked me if I thought it would be alright to use some quotes from our forum thread on the subject (complete with link back to same) and I said yes, I thought that would be fine.
He’s also asked if he could include an “official site quote” about the trailer from myself and, if possible, a couple of other members of the TCL team to include in the article, again with a link back to this site. Basically, the quote would be our individual reaction to the trailer, such as whether we think it’s good or bad, what looks interesting about it, etc.
He does want quite a quick turnaround on this, I think he’s hoping to get the article done tomorrow - he works very fast, whilst we’re on “fan site” time, he’s on “professional journalist” time, LOL!
Anyway, no sweat, but if anyone from the team wants to add a couple of lines to Tom’s article, LMK and I’ll send them over to him!
