Which is stupid because releasing G.I. Joe Retaliation in either August and September is an easy solution. But no, they had to post-convert it to 3D. Bullcrap!
I Agree especially all the promotion The Rock was doing as well
Well, I had the chance to play Battleship Galaxies over the weekend at Balticon. Pretty good game! Like I thought, it’s a little like Star Fleet Battles with more simplified rules. There are no firing arcs. Instead it’s simply sufficient to be within your weapons’ hex range. Power is also instead allocated to either launching or activating ships, and it’s kept track of on a special board each players have.
The things that tie it remotely to the original Battleship is that whenever you attack an enemy vessel, you roll a D8 and a D10. The D8 has Numbers 1-8 and the D10 has letters A-J. Each ship has its own stat card, including a grid marked off with coordinates. If your roll lands within any of the coordinates the ship profile is in, it counts as a “hit.” Each ship model also has a base that pegs are put in. Initially these ships will have blue shield pegs (if they have shields). As they take hits, these pegs are removed and are eventually replaced with red pegs to indicate hull damage. Once the damage is equal to or exceeds its hull points, the ship is destroyed and removed from the board.
The game is fairly balanced, with the Terran Navy having shields and longer range weapons, and the Wretcheridians having shorter range, but more powerful weapons and their ships’ hulls tougher to withstand more damage before closing in.
Overall, good game. I just wish Hasbro would move ahead on expansions for more ships and/or factions. As it is now, there are no immediate plans to do so. I guess maybe they were holding off to see how well the movie did?
