Overall, they seem pretty nice. The small sword which I got for my son does have a spring loaded blade unlike the bigger one, which is not ideal in my mind for smaller kids, but it’ll probably be alright. If it’s extended then it will retract when pushed.
here’s some quick pics of mine, i used my phone so they arent the best. i love them. i noticed on the claw though it didnt have anything inserted in the front like a label, the smaller sword front label is on the inside so i’d assume the claw would be the same but there’s nothing. factory error?
Looking at folks pics is sheer torture! I love the new sword! Infact it’s one of my favourite redesigns as I absolutely love how the hilt folds in and snaps out! I think the sword could be one of the best sellers from the entire line. When I worked in a toystore, one of our best sellers was always the generic sword. With the Sword of Omens being so iconic it will fly off shelves!
Has anyone seen a basic stand that might be able to hold the Deluxe sword? I don’t really want it just resting on the shelf. Doesn’t need to be anything fancy, just something that can hold it in place. Does it work like a regular telescoping toy sword like a toy lightsaber, or does it come out in sections?
I remember at Toyfair some Bandai rep said that the sword wouldn’t just be telescoping, but you would have to press a button and it would automatically launch out and do it 3 to mimic the show.
Got it for a little bit over $8 on Amazon.com. It has a gold Chinese or Japanese symbol on the base on the back, but is plain up front. I might look into painting it a different color with a nice metallic spray paint. Not sure what color to do though; I like the black to set off the silver, green, and red of the sword.
This is a call for help to anyone with the deluxe sword: Why does my sword not say “give me sight beyond sight”? It said it one time after it was taken out of the package and has not said it since.
I know someone once told Groucho Marx “it is so easy a kid can do it”, to which Groucho replied: “someone go out and get me a kid cause I can’t make heads or tails out of it”! So I followed his advice and handed the sword to my five year old daughter and she cannot get it to do it either.
It should say “Sight Beyond Sight” if you push and hold the button on the hilt (which releases the guards) for a few seconds. If it doesn’t do that, it may be defective!
So I noticed something while messing around with the Deluxe Sword of Omens the other day…it actually does take three swings to get it out all the way.
I guess the way they designed it was pretty cool. There’s enough friction in each section that if you swing it once, it extends only a third, and if you swing it again it extends even further, and a third swing brings it out all the way.
I thought that was really cool. At least it did it for me. Just don’t swing it around really hard and it should work for you too.
