Art Direction: Cartoony or With a Realistic Flare?

If the ThunderCats movie took a more serious tone and a realistic art design, would you still be interested?

Or, are you more comfortable with a cartoony CGI feel, ala TMNT?

Personally, I could go both ways, just as long as it’s not taken too serious and it’s not too kiddy.

What would you prefer the art direction be?

I’d say I’m open for either option as long it’s like you said not too serious and not too kiddy.

Personally, I’d prefer realistic animation along the lines of “Howl’s Moving Castle”. But I’m enough of a realist to know that CGI is the way to go in movie animation these days. :slight_smile:

I would love something like the CGI used in Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children

Realistic all the way. I dont want to see Lion-O look like Mr. Incredible with a red wig on >.<

I’d definitely go for the FFVII: Advent Children look. It has that realistic feel with a fantasy type world.

The only thing is…I just can’t picture ThunderCats in that CGI style of animation. It would just look too weird for me.

Personally as long as the essence of the original designs are there i would prefer a more realistic look. I enjoyed the look of TMNT but would like to see TCats given the Advent children treatment

So now that we know Charlie Wen is the Concept Artist for the movie…would you stick with your decision? :wink:

I could also go either way as long as it was not too kiddy and not too serious… I like the idea of a sort of Final Fantasy CGI feel, as long as they’re true to the original feel and designs.
