Anyone Upgrading to Windows Vista?

I am 99.9% sure I will, but I’m a little scared because of all the incompatibilites. I’m backing up all my data right now and I’m going to reformat my HD before installing Vista.

Anyone else getting Vista?

I’ve only just got Windows XP! lol

Probably won’t upgrade until I get another pc, which will be a long time off since this one is practically brand new.

But out of interest, what is the difference between XP and Vista? What do you gain by upgrading?

I am sure I will, but not for now since my computer isn’t powerful enough. Well, it can run Vista but I have such a good machine for XP that I won’t update it so soon!

So, I believe I wait a few months until any Vista is tested, Service Pack comes out (remember all problems XP had in the past that were fixed only with SP1?).

I’ve been using some new products from Microsoft for a few months now, specially Office 2007 tool, Sharepoint Server 2007 and Sharepoint Designer (it’s the new name for Frontpage). I’ve looked at the new Word and Excel and they are amazing, the new graphics you can create, editing, formatting, wow…

They are also so much different from the old one that I believe people will feel lost at first!

No thanks… (although I do run W2K on a box)

oh I cant wait. It looks so much like a mac I’m thrilled. I hope my tax refund is enough to get a Laptop with it (prob around april or so as I want to let the bugs get worked out first)

Vista…

You mean Windows attempt to catch up to Mac’s operating system lol..

Half of the PC’s need hardware upgrades to be able to upgrade

The good thing about Vista is that it give windows users a few of the cool features macs have, but thats about it. It will still require patches and security and anti virus.. etc

It has taken Windows this long to catch up to a system Mac are about to call their old operating system.

These clips say it all…

Yeah I agree Kyle. I actually said some similar things at the He-Man.org forums on a Vista thread. I’d love to have an Apple notebook right now, but they are just way too pricey for me. I do plan on getting a new notebook in the near future and I’ve been eyeing a Mac Book Pro…especially since it can dual boot. I just want to make sure I can get a good deal on it.

Hopefully my upgrade goes smoothly tomorrow…otherwise, you won’t see me on the forums for a couple days!

By the way, that first video is hilarious!

PC’s pretty new, so it’s compatible…but I’ll probably wait a while yet if I’m gonna do it. I’m in no rush

MAC all the way  PC’s are just playing catch up these days. Save the money you are saving for Vista and put it towrds a MAC. If you campare similar machines you will find that they are very similar in price. The only difference is that MAC dont make entry level machines, but if you compare similar models the prices are much the same. Save up and get a MAC, You wont be sorry!

GOOD MAN!

Thats what I like to hear.. Seriously, just head down to an Apple Store and get one of the guys to show you around the system.. you will be impressed way beyond a PC, even with Vista. I would wait until the Leopard opperating system is ready.. seriously I bet it blows Vista off the planet.

I’m typing this on Vista! I must say, I was expecting things to slow down since Vista is supposedly a resource hog, but to tell you the truth, I feel like it got even faster! I haven’t been able to look over a lot of the features because I had to track down an updated driver for my sound card, but everything is running super! I swear, surfing the net is quick with IE7…hopefully there are no security loop holes in the browser as I think I’m thinking of using this browser over FireFox…never thought I’d ever say that.

Anyhow, since I did a fresh install, I gotta reinstall all my applications, but from what I’ve done thus far, Vista gets two thumbs up for me!!

I love macs and they are so easier to use, but they are so dang expensive and there harddrives are tiny compared to what you can get on a pc nowadays (at least they were when I last looked at getting one a few years ago)

I think that may be due to how bad XP was in comparison lol..

Well the notebooks have 160GB, iMacs have 250GB and Mac Pros go up to 2000GB Hard Drives. The complete package when you look at what you get for your money is totally worth it.

Well Kyle I am completely blown away now. Now I have to do a lot of research when I get my laptop, thanks for setting me straight

Excellent!

The Hard Drives I quoted are the Maximum of each range, the starting models are obviously slightly less. Deff take a look though my friend..

Macs do sound nice, but when one doesn’t have the money, one doesn’t have the money. This does what I need it to do…most of the time. I can live with it
