Just got the news this morning: Anne McCaffrey, author of the Dragonriders of Pern novels and many other Fantasy and Science Fiction novels, has died. Here’s the article from Wired:

In addition to being one of the most influential writers of modern Science Fiction and Fantasy, she was also one of the first major women writers in the genre. And for that, her contributions cannot be overstated. Rest in peace, MS. McCaffrey, and thank you. You’ll be missed.:frowning:

One of the first science fiction novels I read in high school was the Dragonsinger trilogy. It has inspired me to write characters who start a hero’s journey as an outcast. Thank you Ms. McCaffrey, for the many years of fantastic adventures.

She was a amazing writer, so gifted in creating such beautiful worlds with words.

I will never forget reading her books, and enjoying ever moment of it. It is also why I have this user name for the love of her work.
