Contrary to popular thought it is pretty much official that 8 back Lion O’s came in 2 different hair/accesory colors, not only the ones with battery offer but the ones without as well. Congrats to stacycollector1977 for such a rare find. Heres the auction

RARE 8 Back Lion-O with RED Hair

Yes, I actually got this seller to sell me this Lion-O and I only paid $260 for it. I was so happy as this is a very rare find. If anyone wants to see it, I should be recieving it by June 10, 2006. Let me know and I can send pics. Email me at:

I’ve covered most of 8-back Lion-o. It’s very hard to find a Lion-o belonging to Series 1, The variations i know to exist are:

  1. Red Hair with Battery.

  2. Red Hair with Catalogue.

  3. Orange Hair with Battery.

  4. Orange Hair without Catalogue.

  5. Orange Hair with Catalogue.

I don’t think it should be counted as a variation but Lion-o (Red Hair) & Mumm-Ra were the only 8-backs released for Rainbow toys.

One thing i love about these special cards is the absence of the white splash behind the blister, it accentuates better the figure, also i prefer the smaller size of the card which is about 11’’ height and 8’’ width,comparing it to the standard 14 and 22 back
