Now I loved the Thundercats but I was as a kid always more in awe with the mutants, they looked savage and castle plun darr looked spooky as hell.
I also loved that they were all doing things for their own, if one of them had the feeling they could rule third earth on their own, they would have had a shot at it. The fact that they were scheming plans behind slithe’s back for example was always enjoyable for me. They didn’t feel like they were one unit.

Same story for Mumm-ra, the pyramid rocked and mumm-ra looked awesome and really powerful and threatening.
So as it looks this will still be the case with the new show. Mutants are pretty much confirmed and Mumm-ra being there is a no brainer. I hope they all have the same characteristics as before.
The one other thing I want is that Grune will now be a regular and big threat for the Thundercats too, hopefully in group with some other villains.

As a group they didn’t stand a chance against the Thundercats as a group, so it stands to reason that one on one, they also shouldn’t stand a chance.
However, to lend some credence to your suggestion above, perhaps each of the Thundercats could be particularly susceptible, by different means, to not matching up well against a particular mutant.
For example: Panthro, aside from his mechanical acumen, was probably the least bright in terms of devising a way to foil the Mutant’s latest attempt to conquer the Thundercats. He could repair and build things, and fight like a beast hand to hand. However, he really wasn’t the planner of the four.
One of his more famous catch phrases was often uttered after the others had devised a plan (“If we’re gonna do it, lets do it!!”)
So, Vultureman being the most intellectually superior Mutant of the four, possibly could be used to exploit Panthro really getting into trouble one on one against him for being outwitted.
I may be misremembering, but I seem to recall Jackalman being probably the most patient (albeit the most cowardly) of the mutants. Perhaps, say Tygra for example may have a character flaw in wanting to rush into a situation instead of waiting for backup, and Jackalman could exploit this by some means.
The hard part would be finding a way to sneak these in as subtly as possible and not over exploit it so they can continually be hinted at. If Vultureman clearly besting Panthro with little effort is painted all over an episode in a broad daylight type manner, then its over. You either can’t use it again because Panthro, being a Thundercat, should be able to learn from his mistake. Otherwise it becomes predictable and cheap, and the Thundercats end up looking weaker.
I always liked the mutants, even more than Mumm-Ra himself. I hope they make them more threatening this time, and that maybe we would see more species.
I could live with Vultureman having wings in the beginning as I believe Coptur suggested in another thread. However I would not want him to have wings for the entire show.
Him not having wings, IMO, allowed him to be much more dynamic. His need to build the Flying Machine to fly gave his character the ability to demonstrate both a mechanical and architectural acumen amongst the Mutants, leading him to believably be able to build other devices of destruction
I mean yeah it was odd that he was supposed to be a vulture and didn’t have wings, but I think the above more than makes up for that and improves him as a character over a winged version.
