I just need a thread to vent. Lightning strike Friday night fried my computer. 
Fried my brand new Wii. Fried a TV. Got a new computer, I only had my last one for about a year. Though I got a nicer one and a different brand this time and I’m not having the weird issues with this site that I was having with the old one.
Too much money!
Oh, and I did but a new surge protector as well. sigh
I feel your pain. The other night the power in our condo went out 5 times! The weird thing was it was just rain. No thunder or lightning. Hell, it wasn’t even a torrential downpour! I have half a mind to call our power company and ask whose bright idea was it to F with our electricity.
Like you, Ocelli and I also had a lot of electronics we were concerned for: my own computer, our 42" flatscreen, the Xbox 360, the PS3, the Blu-Ray player, not to mention our cable and internet equipment. I was just getting ready to play some Fallout 3 when it happened, and instead ended up having to clean out the registry and defrag the hard drive. 
Everything seems to be working ok now, though. I guess we got lucky. But yeah, I totally feel you. That just sucks royally.
Defragging is a pain in the butt. Always seems to take forever. I’m thinking I may just unplug my pc from the wall at night.
I totally feel your pain. We had a series of thunderstorms a while back that fried several surge protectors…luckily nothing else got fried except our TV but it was going to be replaced soon anyways. I had to buy a new power cord thing for our Wii too.
Surge protectors are your friend I guess? And I buy the expensive like $60 ones too. Sorry for the loss of the electronics that got fried though.
Yikes! I’m sorry to hear you lost so much stuff. That really sucks.
