I just started of collecting thundercats for past couple of months. I was wondering how much will it cost to Grade a thundercats MOC action figure. I checked afa website they are asking for 80 bucks to grade one MOC figure. Is this correct or am i doing something wrong?
I have the same question and one related to it. I have a loose 6" Tygra prototype/first-shot figure and was curious how to go about having it graded and was wondering if it was worth it?
I havn’t sent anything to AFA yet but price wise it comes to about $100 per figure. That’s with the fastest turnaround I believe. I’m more concerned about letting my cherished toys out of my sight and or receiving it back with the figure coming loose from the bubble. Thats one of the reasons I’ve been holding out sending anything.
englishw, I would love to see a pic of your prototype! I think that would be cool getting graded but I don’t necessarily think it should. I would get a custom acrylic case made for it so that you can take it out at your will. Once in encased by AFA you’ll never again touch it 
There was a time afa was actually mixed up in some employees damaging and swaping figures. Its documented online.
They are over rated. Plus you never get to touch your toy again. Invest in a zoloworld.com case and call it a day. Much much better.
Price of Graded Toys
Doesn’t it help in long run though to get the toys graded as AFA graded toys are ridiculously expensive.
I agree, they go for a lot more graded then ungraded. Also, helps protect the condition of the toys so that in itself is a bonus, the grading only enhances its “market” value and collectors appeal.
Look at the post in collectors corner called “indiabluesplit’s collection” in it you will find my graded Lion-O first shot. it is worth every penny!
if you intend to resell the figure, the it is absolutely worth it. i quick trip around ebay will show you how much more items like figures and comics sell for when they have been graded.
as a personal collector, however, i have no intention of selling my comics or figures, and as was pointed out above, there are much less expensive ways of protecting your stuff, and resale value doesnt matter if you dont intend to sell.
so i guess it comes down to a matter of what you are going to do with the figures

Standing next to the retail 6" Tygra. Can you spot the difference between the two? No, not just the paint/plastic type… there is a piece wrong on the prototype ;o) Give it a good long look.

i keep staring the Tygras but to no avail, could you enlighten me a little with the difference??? i see no differences in the sculpt
